I'm quite sure that this topic has been discussed here before. But I still dont get it. I keep looking at pictures only to see images of women that either have had a very rough life, or are not being honest about their age. When I see someone my age 56 and they look 66, I think wow! Way too much time in the sun or what do they think the other person is going to think when they actually meet? I went out on a date once with a woman from another site, met her at the restaurant and she had put on at least 80 lbs since she had the photo taken...YIKES! It just may be that I am expecting honesty, and feel let down because the person I meet thinks somehow they can bluff their way through it. Not a good basis for a relationship. Maybe I just expect too much??????? But on the other hand, I feel guilty when I get in touch with someone that lists themselves as 45 and they really are, and get pissed off at me. So reverse psychology doesnt work with womens age either.

Guys lie about their age more than women do.

I met a guy for lunch once who claimed to be 5'10" and 50 years old . He was at least sixty and he was easily 2 inches shorter than me. I am 5 6" and I was wearing flat shoes.

On the other had I have met guys who were really 60 yet could pass for the 40 something they had posted on their profile. There is one in particular that makes me smile...

Different people age at different rates.

I've had more men lie to me about their age or looks. There are two that really stick out. One said he was 43 but later admitted to being 60 but didn't think he looked that old (he did) so he put what he thought he looked. The other swore up and down he looked young for his age, but when the older ladies (over 70) in my apartment complex insisted I needed to find someone younger I tended to agree with them, and they are the ones who swore he looked closer to their age than mine, i had to agree with them. Ok I already felt that way anyway.

I understand that people sometimes do not look their age. On the other hand, most of the times you want to say, PLEEEAAASSSSSE! If you're 55 then I'm 13! Get real! Gee is that the turnip truck? Stop it! I want to get back on! Plus I'm not going to get into which gender lies more about their age, obviously both. But I'm 56 years old and damn lucky and proud that I have made it this far. I still wake up EVERY morning sleeping on my side because my kick stand is still out. I still have most of my hair (no comments about brain cells). AND I still think that it is extremely important to tell the truth, much easier than trying to live a lie. My point is how could anyone possibly expect to start a relationship with a lie, be they male or female? Gawd, how did I ever get to be this ethical??? I need more beer!

Believe me it goes both ways. I have only seen a few on here that I would ever consider truly gorgeous...and they probably weren't who the pic was of.

I have probably physically met 75 women in person from online sites. Only two were significantly different looking age wise than what they said they were. The pictures were really them and not too old. However, there were some in the nineties that posted those "Glamour Shots" from that era.

Where I found some degree of deception was in their weight or description of their build. But more often than not, there was no false advertising in that area either. I am not going to get into that as I have gotten bitched at too much for it in the past and don't care to listen to (actually read) a bunch of crap from somebody not comfortable in their own skin, even if there is too much of it.
