They were talking about men donating sperm on the radio this morning and how a lot more men are doing it because of the financial crisis and unemployment.
I found an article on the web about it from 1/19/09 here. Here is what some of the article says:
The sperm bank pays $60 per sample. They say their most regular donors visit up to three times a week.
They reject more than 80 percent of their applicants for a variety of reasons, so they say it's great to have more men walking in the door.
Of course, sperm donation raises many complex issues. At the Seattle sperm bank, men must agree to allow a child they helped create to contact them once they turn 18.
Aylesworth says if you have viable genetic material, you may have a viable source of income.
The Seattle Sperm Bank only accepts donors between the ages of 18 and 40.
$60 per sample huh? Not too bad, ya think?
Would you donate sperm if you needed the money and were able to (meaning you were between the ages of 18 and 40, especially if you were found to have viable genetic material)?

Far be it from me to deny a damsel in distress. I regularly donate to all sorts of charities. I assure you that a donation to such a worthy cause would truly be a pleasure! I would give my all, especially if she is hot, as the gift of giving provides such a wonderful feeling.

i donated when i was at university, was useful extra cash. The laws are a little different in the UK mind you so none of the potential recrimnations, if thats the right word, that there could be in the US

I would never donate sperm, even if I were falling on hard times.
They do sign claims to keep you discreet from anyone who receives the donation, but lawyers have somehow made it so they must give over information if asked.
Thus, you may have a woman out there looking for a good payday who may come to you for child support later on.
So in the long run, the $60 dollars hardly seems worth it if I have to pay child support every month for the next 18 years. Yikes!
