Do you think people are considered racist because they simply don't support amnesty for the illegal aliens in this country? Heard this for years now, and the latest has the New York Times calling Bill O'Reilly a racist because he doesn't support this for the illegals. I guess I'm a racist then, because that's how I feel about the illegals over here. Why should we grant them amnesty when there have been illegals waiting patiently for a number of years to become a citizen legally? People tend to throw the race card around a lot when emotions run high concerning the minorities more and more today.

At what point did the word ILLEGAL become a nice thing?

And if so, I would like verification, since there are several things I wouldn't mind doing ILLEGALLY, if it is now ok and scot free to do the shit.

I do NOT support the idea at all, and if that makes me a racist ( after fighting against racism for decades ) so be it. Send em back home. Wanna be a citizen? Go through channels, do it right. Frustrating and hard, and long forms? Guess what, welcome to America bitch, they're ALL long and frustrating.

Do it right.
Get a job.
And learn to speak FUCKING AMERICAN.

The easiest way to fight the system, is to USE the system......YES....I think the border should be open to anyone that wants to come here and work....MAKE IT LEGAL.....Then Employers would be required to at least pay MINIMUM WAGE, and with hold TAXES from those wages.....and their HOME COUNTRY can tax those wages as well, thereby boosting both economies.....A win-win for everyone.

Employers would not give preference to "Illegals" because their cost would be the same, and would increase their internal paperwork, because they would be required to report earnings to the US as well as the "Home Country" of the employee....

Not supporting "Blanket" Amnesty doesn't make you a Racist....Sitting around bitching about all those illegal Mexicans does......

I'm not sure how to feel about it. They come here to make a better life for themself and all of our forefathers were from another country and came here and became Americans, right? This country is made up of a mixture of all kinds of races and cultures and people that came here to make a better life for themself, including your ancestors and my ancestors, so I don't know...I guess I'm kinda on the fence about it

It doesn't make anyone racist though that doesn't support it. The word "racist" is so overused nowadays it's a bit ridiculous.

I don't think that is what you meant to say. Instead of illegals, didn't you mean foreigners or legal immigrants?

I am not going to rehash my views on immigration except to say that of all of the political issues, this is the one where I have my most conservative stance. I will submit that the solution should involve jail time for executives of companies hiring illegals.

As for being called a racist. Well, some people are so overzealous that they will throw a blanket label over anybody who disagrees with them. For example there are people who come to mind that label anybody a liberal that does not buy into a right wing conservative point of view...just saying

I think that if you're here illegally, then send them home!!! Close the borders and if you want to come here, go through the hoops just like everybody else did. My people didn't have to do this, as I'm Native American, but why should our taxes go to support them with medical care, food stamps, prisons, etc.? We as a people in America need to draw the line somewhere. I was raised that nothing in life is free, there is always a price to pay, only now a days, we are doing the paying for them!!

Just my .02!!

There is a difference Straddle. IF they are illegal send them back. I can't understand our country willing to feed, clothe and help with medical for illegals yet I can't find assistance and I was born and raised here

Oh, I agree with you, but if they have a green card and working on becoming a legal citizen the right way, then I have no problem with that.

Yes mine came to America in 1907, Came through Elis Island, just like everyone before him, Got off the boat, and proceded to set up shop to MAKE A LIVING for himself and his family. There wasn't anyone handing him any money to feed and cloth his kids and there wasn't any min. wage then either.

I believe in Do Process. Want to come to this country. Fill out the paperwork, Prove you not going to be a burden on society (which is one of the things you have to prove) Learn English, and pay your taxes. Just like my Grandparents did.

We are a nation of Laws; but it seems no one really cares to enforce these laws.

Amnesty (To Forgive). Why don't we have other Amnesty Programs ?,Such as Tax Amnesty, Let's forgive all of us Hard working Americans Their Taxes due. Would that be O.K.?

And if we did grant Amnesty to the illegals. Wouldn't that insult all the people who came here legally ? (My Father was one, who came here legally, he procured the proper documentation, then waited his turn)

I love Bill O Reilly on this issue.

The NY Times has it's own blatant liberal agenda. Not sure what ever happened to reporting the news as it happens and not trying to spin it the direction you want.... but I digress.

In the proper sense of the word, IF Bill O'Reilly, or anyone for that matter, was opposed to amnesty for Mexican illegals, but was ok for amnesty for any other nationality, then he would be a racist. Since he opposes amnesty (and I agree) for ALL illegal immigrants of ANY nationality, the racist tag just does not fit.

As WOW alluded to...... if you can't beat 'em, call 'em names and distract them from the REAL issue.

Can I just point out the irony that O'Reilley is Irish, and about this time last century people were all saying the same thing about Irish immigrants?

One side of my family is descended largely from illegal Mexicans, but it happened many years ago, when if you wanted to work, they made you legal. I think that's how it ought to be, regardless of job market. Survival of the fittest. Let anyone willing to work immigrate, bar none, in unlimited numbers. To balance things out, go into the trailer parks and projects and round up everyone who hasn't worked or tried to get a job in a while (but who's been complaining about too many aliens taking all the jobs) and deport THEM to Mexico to make room.

Hmmmmmm? Yours was the first comment that mentioned a particular race whatsoever. An illegal alien, is an illegal alien, is an illegal alien regardless of which country they came here (did I mention illegally?) from.

all of our forefathers were from another country and came here and became Americans, right?
Not quite all of our forefathers did. Most of mine, excepting of course my maternal grandfather that came over from Ireland as a baby on the boat, were already here. But he and his family came here LEGALLY, makes a big difference.

Came through Elis Island, just like everyone before him, Got off the boat, and proceded to set up shop to MAKE A LIVING for himself and his family.

That is the part that in my mind makes all the difference in the world. Anyone entering the US at an illegal entry point, without proper authority or permission is breaking the law. Period. If they are given amnesty, where do you draw the line? As Paulywalnuts said, tax evasion? how about theft? drugs? driving while intoxicated? murder? all deemed to be illegal acts as well, however no one even blinks if the public demands justice be served when they are commited.

Kinda reminds me of something Robin Williams said from his 2002 special:

I thought the Statue of Liberty would change.
Instead of "Give me your tired and your poor," it would be her with a baseball bat going "You want a piece of me?!"

When you come from a new country. It can take up to 7 years to even get in to take the test you have to go to another state to get finger printed & then sit & wait for the process. Illegal aliens are the reason for these long lines. If they are going to be here they should have to pay taxes like the rest of us. I worked with a man on a word visa from a small asian community & he didn't have to pay any of our taxes all his money went back to his village. So I guess my opinion is if you want to be in this country you should try to do it by legal channels. jmo.

Some of them are, some of them aren't. I can see both view points. See my video, "Penn and Teller Immigration". There's three parts to it. I don't recall if I posted all three. But you can find the others on youtube. I'm too lazy to look. It's on the second page of my videos.
