(I sure would like to know who wrote this one! They deserve a HUGE pat on the back!)
I HAVE TO PASS A URINE TEST FOR MY JOB... SO I AGREE 100%. Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ASS, doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check.. Something has to change in this country -- and soon!

Makes too much sense, doesn't it? Things that make too much sense never get used at the governmental level.

Government level decisions? What a joke! A little off topic here but I'm furious that I get charged for water and sewage I don't use because they base it on Joe Blow who has a washer, a bathtub he fills to the brim, an outside water faucet they assume he uses and probably a kiddie pool too.
Don't let me read my meter and pay for actual usage...that makes too much sense.
It pisses me off just as much as the guy on drugs drawing unemployment, and the guy drawing disability because he can't speak English...

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? I totally agree with you! Too bad we don't have enough people thinking our way to change so many wrongs in life to rights. Hopefully we can do this in the near future.

I bet taxpayers would sooner pay $30 for a urine test as opposed to hundreds of dollars in benefits every month.

Granted a person can be compelled to take a test if a cop pulls them over for a suspected DWI, employers can randomly test, as can parole and probation departments. That being said, I still tend to think that there would be legal questions about mandating the testing. In the case of illegal drugs, unless driving, being under the influence is not illegal even though possession is.
I also feel that we don't need the government sticking its nose any further into people's private lives. Besides somebody that is looking for work and doing everything that they can that smoked a joint a month ago would still show up positive in many tests.
Lastly, it is not just the cost of the test for one person applying for "welfare" or food stamps. It is the cost of testing everybody applying.

Quick drug tests are now available at less than 5 dollars each.
One example
Simple dip test, no need for a lab. I took one once for a job.
As far as the weed goes...I am an advocate for the legalization. But me like a ton of others have to deal with that to get a job and abstain, so should anyone do the same to get aid.

Personally, I don't care what kind of drugs a welfare recipient is on so long as they're in Adult Ed, career counseling, or submitting (genuine) job applications regularly.
Drug tests don't prevent me or many of my co-workers from doing drugs- but they're great motivation to prevent accidents on the job!

I can't speak for 100% for the both of us, but the Bald one agrees 100% on this. I think Belle would agree, too...but I'll let her answer herself for sure.
