All I know is that if you ever get laid off?, the best thing that can happen after that is to get LAID! I know, "stupid" I couldn't help it. Sorry

You really want to know how I handle stress??? I get out my green bag of "fuck it"
I really hope that doesn't happen to you though and I'm sorry to hear that. They just laid of 2nd shift at the GM plant in Michigan and they said on the news they don't know if they will affect Powertrain here in Toledo, but I'm sure it will. More poor people going to be out of a job

I left my job 3 years ago and came back last year at a 30% pay cut. Then the hours started to decrease. Now it's to the point where it almost doesn't pay for me to go in to work anymore.

I know exactly how you feel. It happened to me in Sept. It wasn't a nice feeling at all. I though I had stress from the job, but it isn't like now. Wondering if you're gonna be homeless in the next few months. And......I have my daughter and her two kids here with me. Now that's stress.

It's rough... and finding a job these days is real hard... I've been looking for work for over a month now and I'm in the medical field... there will always be jobs there... it's still tough out there! Good luck to you....

There is an old saying by men in combat, "If you just accept being dead, it is much easier as you won't worry about it."

Fear can keep us up all night long, but faith makes one fine pillow.
Don't fight with the pillow, but lay down your head And kick every worriment out of the bed.

Yes i have been laid off before. Walk in and get handed a piece of paper and being told you dont work here anymore. These days are not much better. Just trying to get things paid off before shit hits the fan. As for the stress. I will just keep digging till i get to the top or die. Life sucks at times. And i still dont get to enjoy it.

Dear Toad:
I agree with Nigh of Old's comment about Fear. Sure it's easier said then done, Fear will hold you back. I know right now that's a little difficult to understand. Keep the faith, think positive, hold your head up high.
Sometimes in life, when a door closes, a window opens. I hope this helps you a little bit.

Straight from Forbes.com
In Depth: America's Fastest-Dying Towns Bensenville leads our list of America's dying small towns. Other manufacturing hubs hit hard by declines in the auto industry appear on the list. They include places like Kokomo, Ind., Austintown, Ohio, and Middletown, Ohio.
"I'll slim it down to one word for you: cars," says Chris Cornell, an economist at Moody's Economy.com. "Kokomo was remarkably poorly positioned. Its two major employers were Chrysler and [auto parts maker] Delphi. Both have done poorly and had some pretty major layoffs."
Um, guess where I live? Yeah, Kokomo. And I JUST moved here last year. You can really see how it's affected things. I've recently returned to school and the majority of the students are folks from there two plants.
I'd say it's time to get pro-active and think about returning to school to learn a new trad/skill.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Alex. I hope things pick up enough that they keep you. Best wishes..
My son in law was laid off since before Thanksgiving, just went back last week and got a call Sunday that he is laid off again. Yeah, there is rumor that they are going to shut the GM plant here down completely. The Steel Mill laid off quite a few this week and two other plants closed today..along with 2 restaurants and 2 stores all within the span of a week.
I don't know what people are supposed to do.
