Okay, after reading Bruce's blogs asking people on here if they have ever known a murder victim and has known someone who has actually murdered someone, I figured I would ask this. When I was in the police academy years ago I was surprised to learn that some police officers would rather be shot then to be stabbed with a knife. Some of these officers including the police instructer we had felt that being stabbed in the gut was far more painful than a gunshot. I thought to myself, ARE YOU FUCKING NUTS?!!! I think I would take the knife to the gut as long as it didn't hit any major life threatening organs. I could take the pain, but the lead bullet and the particals involved after the round is fired from the gun is way too dangerous. Which is the lesser of the two evils if you were a cop responding to a call whether it's a domesic disburbance, bank robbery, traffic stop, etc...? (Of course you would survive this).

And other times I have known some grown men that even thought of them being stabbed with a knife would bring them down to their knees with tears as if they were kicked in the balls or something.

I still feel like a gunshot would be worse because of the bullet fragments involved

So you would go with a gunshot then?

How about I just wear my vest?
Although those things are pretty heavy........

But just out of curiosity, is it a really sharp knife or dull? Clean blade, or dirty?

Okay, the blade is at least 6 inches. It could be sharp or dull. I don't know very many criminals that would worry whether or not the blade is clean.

As for a police vest goes, that's always the best option to wear one regardless what kind of call you're on.

But we have to be pratical, ya can't always wear one, especially when driving your police cruiser.

Before reading any of the comments, I thought gunshot wound and after reading the comments, I'm definitely going to say a gunshot wound...that is if I had to choose.

The knife wound would be more survivable.
I have no personal experience but I also have heard that many gunshot wounds don't hurt, the bullet destroys or shocks the nerve endings, though I imagine where you get hit has a lot to do with how much it hurts as well. Gut wounds are supposed to be very painful and often fatal.

Okay I guess if I had to chose, I would say gun.....I've heard they happen so quickly that they do have a numbing effect..
However I am really hoping that neither ever really happens.. lol

Gut wounds are supposed to be very painful
Ya think? lol

Having been knifed in the stomache and shot in the leg. I can't see much difference, other than the impact of the bullet. And to tell the truth, they both happened so fast, I didn't feel the pain from either one. Just saw and felt the warm blood oozing out.

HA! HA! officer straddle! Well funny cause I'm an ex-con ,I sarifice that embarrassing fact to say this. I've seen many knife wounds to the stomach, alot of guys survive that. You're left with a small scar. You move on. Gun shot? Friend of mine who did survive and others I have run accross have been ripped open to have the bullet taken out. Outcome? Man looking like he had a c-section. I don't mind a woman with one, I just wouldn't like to be the guy with one. Oh, btw, I that was years ago I was imprisoned and a have learned my lesson. Yessiree bob! Won't do that again
