For me, stimulation of all senses - especially for the women that I have the privilege to have submit to me - is essential.
One aspect of this is music, and for this, I sometimes use my iPod, loaded with different kinds of music depending on the mood, and isolate her so that the only thing that she can hear is the music.
Depending on the mood I want to create and the emotions I want to instill at the moment, I have playlists with very different types of music, ranging from soft classical music to Rammstein. I then complement - or contrast - the mood that the music creates with other sensory stimulation.
Even during more vanilla sex, music plays an important role for me, and sets the pace. For the romantic sex evening, classical music is great, for wild adventures I use rock etc, or I create a playlist consisting of music from soft and slow to hard and fast for the crescendo, then back to soft again for some after cuddling.

I'm more with the harder stuff. Rammstein would be great. Just having the music channel on with this heavy stuff, gets me going.

In college, I had a Lenny Kravitz mix-tape (remember those? . . . I was so cool in high school & college, I made mix tapes!  ) that got my roommate so much action he made a copy of it! He swore by it! I never had any luck with it though . . .

It really depends on the mood..........and the length of the session.......
I love instrumental jazz......mostly the standards ( Round Midnight, What are you Doing the Rest of Your Life?...At Last....The Nearness of You).....I use these for long...drawn out lovemaking.....hot steamy grinding.................lingering kisses.................licking......nibbling.............caressing...........savoring....

I think the key is what accentuates the mood for the woman. Different music will produce different responses depending on the individual taste.
If have known many women who loved to put on music to enhance the intimate ambiance. It was not uncommon for me to have silent thoughts about crappy or boring music. But if it got her more into it, I'm cool.
Returning to the question, I am admittedly and unabashedly narrow (classic rock and blues) on the subject. But some of my favorite memories involved the album by Santana, Abraxis, and Pink Floyd produced a lot of fun nights.
