I had a discussion not too long ago with a friend about people doing nice things for someone just because they want to or because they have a big heart and it's just the way they are. The times when someone does something unexpected, not expecting or wanting anything in return.

I honestly thought everyone had people like that in their lives... From what a few people have told me, sadly I guess I was wrong.

If you think about it for a moment, what is the nicest or most caring thing or things anyone has ever done for you?

And It doesn't have to involve money.....it can be something as simple as shoveled your sidewalsk while you were at work... watched your kids so you could have a break... brought a pizza when they came to visit you....ETC...

I have known my mechanic for 30 years...he was just an acquaintance or so I thought.

When I moved to Phoenix in 2006 I began to realize he was also a friend. He bent over backwards making sure my car was road worthy...and he voiced concern for the decision I was making in moving.

I still didn't make much of it but I wasn't there 2 days until he called to see if I was alright. He continued to call me about once a week checking on me.

When he found out it wasn't working and I had decided to come home and didn't have a place to stay he didn't say much but began searching and found this house for me then helped me make the arrangements so it was ready when I got here.

I was flabbergasted...I didn't have a clue that he cared about me that much. He's now my best bud...still watches out for me. No strings attached either.

I dont have anyone in my life like that now...but when I was married and my father in law was alive... he would bring us food, with out anyone asking or telling him how broke we were..though I worked 2 jobs!!!
That meant a lot to me!!!

I could tell you about the worst thing that was done to me......lol

Umm.....nice things....

I have a girlfriend that calls me up at least once a week and tells me she bought me lunch and she wants my company.

I have friends here who have helped me and my daughter out.
(by the way, she has collected over 500+ cards for St. Judes Ranch!!)

The kid at the grocery store that helped me put a giant case of water in my truck.

The cashier at the store that always seems to have 5 minutes to talk to me and say more than hello.

The pharmacist that knows I have high blood pressure and always asks how me and my baby are doing and how my BP is.

My dads friend who fixed my truck door and my interior lights that liked to stay on in my truck and asked for no payment and wouldn't accept any payment. I did buy him a case of beer for after work anyway.

You know I alway have tried to be nice and help others when I can. I have never in my life had anyone go out of their way for me until this past December. I recieved a beautiful card with cash in it. I was totally floored after I cried I called to say thank you to his g/f (didn't have his number) I am still so grateful that someone cared enough about me.

I guess I've been a lucky woman all my life.. cuz I've always had friends and even strangers go out of their way to do nice things for me.. or maybe I just appear pathetic.. dunno..

The nicest thing that people do for me all the time with no strings is pray. Though all the other things that people do is much appreciated that is the one thing that means the very most to me.

I've got great people in my life.. and I'm soooo very lucky to have them.

Can't honestly remember anyone doing something for me without strings attached.
Other than the people on here caring about me and praying for me.
