US Airways flight down posted 1/15/2009 4:56:54 PM | 0 kudos what's this?     report abuse   PinkToeNails I heard the news a little while ago and it struck so close to home! That is the route that my dear dear friend Kricket is a flight attendant on. I called her and couldn't get her on the phone... I had been sitting here crying my eyes out and watching the coverage on the news..... not knowing... Well she called me back just now and she is fine... it was her day off! I am so relieved!! I'm so thankful my friend wasn't on that flight and that no one died. Life can take such a turn in the blink of an eye... 	Yahoo reports no deaths or serious injuries. What I'm wondering is what were those birds doing in New York in January. Shouldn't they all have flown south for the winter?

	Firstly, I'm glad your friend got back to you and is alright. As well as all the other passengers and attendents. I can't imagine how scarey that would be.. they said the pilot just set the plane down on the water perfectly. Kudos to the pilot!! I also heard on the news that it was a flock of geese large enough to appear on the radar. Yeap, I would think they should be south by now..

	Yes, they hit a flock of birds....how terrible!!! Yet they all made it out ok.....Amen to that!

	it happened right outside my office window...everyone is safe !! I can still see quite a few lights around the aircriaft so they were able to keep it afloat and managed to pull it to a pier....Hope you hear from friend soon...I'm sure she's fine...

	YES!! Kricket is fine! She wasn't working.... she said she was on the phone today when all of a sudden calls just started beeping in on her, she didn't think twice about it til her daughter called her... and then she realized why everyone was burning her phone up!! I've always worried about her being a flight attendant but she always told me not to worry.... wouldn't worry if I didn't love her! I'm sure that was a sight to see Straddle!

	What I'm wondering is what were those birds doing in New York in January. Shouldn't they all have flown south for the winter? Not all birds migrate. I'm in Michigan, and we've got sparrows, finches, hawks, turkey vultures, crows, and even robins that stay here all year around. As to the plane going down, I caught that on the news when I got back after braving the bitter cold here to get some gas in the Jeep. I'm so glad your friend wasn't on that flight Pink, and especially glad no one got seriously hurt or killed. It could have been a lot worse.
