You know the old familiar "desert island" game — the "if you were stranded on a desert island, what ________ would you take with you?" question. Well here's today's variation: You can only choose one of these forms of entertainment to consume for the rest of your life. Which would you choose? And why?

I would choose music. I couldn't live without it and as corny as it may sound, music has gotten me through some tough times in life.

Thank goodness I don't have to choose though....I love movies and books too much

I love to read, I can read for hours if the book interests me.

Jan 13 @ 12:41PM
i would have to say music,im not a tv person or books, im 90% LISTENING TO THE RADIO,

Jan 13 @ 12:43PM
yeah gimme my books

Jan 13 @ 1:05PM
Books cuz I can sing and make my own music with found objects.

Jan 13 @ 1:31PM
None of the above. Now you get yourself over to the confessional next to Sunshine and when I'm done witrh her we will talk about what I want to do for the rest of my life missy!!! Just kidding maybe. Probably be a TV so I can watch auto racing and football.

Jan 13 @ 1:31PM
Definitely can't live without books. But, like you, thank goodness I don't have to choose.

Jan 13 @ 1:45PM
Holy cow this is hard! only one huh. I absolutely love to read can go through a book in a day if i have the time. But I will have to agree got to be music, swaying to the beat making my own moves to the rhythm. Hey i can always start writing my own stories if need be :>) Excellent blog my dear.

Jan 13 @ 1:48PM

Books are timeless, people read before television and radio was invented. So,I'd say books. Me and Skwirl can make our own Coconut band and use bamboo for the lutes, heh.

Jan 13 @ 2:13PM
Books...Books...and more Books. I wouldn't mind being stranded in "The Library of Congress"

Jan 13 @ 2:15PM
Hey Honey! Good to see you around! I guess I would have to go with books, but probably would be an easy fire source for warmth at how many books do ya get?

Jan 13 @ 2:18PM
I would say movies... most movies are just fairy tales but every now and again you get on that's worth its weight in gold! Like music did for you, the right movie carried me through the toughest time in my life...

Jan 13 @ 2:27PM
Well, mine would be TV especially if I could record things to view later. If I was able to do that, I could cover the music. TV can keep me abreast on things happening now and books, though more detailed, if non fiction (I don't read fiction) are historical.

You can only choose one of these forms of entertainment to consume for the rest of your life. Which would you choose? And why?

And the choices are?

But then again, you didn't explain or list the choices. So thinking out side of the box, I would choose my computer for the Internet. Even if we take Internet capabilities out of the mix, I would choose my computer because I love playing games like bridge, yahtzee, backgammon, hearts, etc. and my puter makes for a wonderful opponent in lieu of a human (that sounds so damned pathetic).

Slips a greenie under the door.

"if you were stranded on a desert island, what ________ would you take with you?"

Taken yet another way, in lieu of Ginger and Mary Ann, Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie will suffice.

Jan 13 @ 5:05PM
Most definitely without a doubt 'BOOKS' I love reading

Jan 13 @ 5:31PM
Movies....I love movies!

Jan 13 @ 6:04PM
music if I can choose what I take.......there are some pieces that as you said....have really gotten me through some tough tough times!!

Jan 13 @ 6:43PM
What books, pieces of music or movies would you take?

Jan 13 @ 6:48PM
Only if you had a solar powered, hand crank storm radio or an eternal supply of batteries music is out & the same w/television for movies but a book you can read by daylight & use it to start fires for warmth & cooking when you have finished reading it..... For survival reasons I say books

Jan 13 @ 7:04PM
Yeah, most women love reading books. As for me, I would have to have my tv

Jan 14 @ 7:29AM
Music... I Love my Music!!! But then again... I can get Music on TV...Can I have "Dish" net work?
WB sweety!

Jan 14 @ 9:11AM
Books.....Hands down.....(Somewhere in there, there's gotta be a "how to" book on boat building!... )

Jan 14 @ 9:32AM
And the choices are?

But then again, you didn't explain or list the choices.

Jan 14 @ 9:42AM

I don't want people to break out the violins, but I've had some really hard times that I did not cause in any way - problems that 'mother nature' had intended for me. When you go through this, you realize what is and isn't real in any art form, so here goes...

Books... I couldn't read much because of the illness.

Music... Garth Brooks (We shall be free, Standing Outside the Fire), Evanescence (Tourniquet), Sacred Spirit (Yeha Noha, Ly O Ley Ale Loya), John Tams (Over the Hills - 'Let Kings and tyrants come and go...I'll stand adjudged by what I know...). The last is by far the most important when you have to keep going and you have nothing left, and it's a real song written by real people of that generation! You wouldn't believe I was brought up with hip-hop which meant nothing when the s*** hit the fan!

Movies...Rescue Dawn (It's worth a thousand Shawshank Redemptions). Nothing more is needed.

I'm sorry to go on, but check some of them out on youtube. I went throught an extrememly difficult experience, which due to the nature of it is gonna happen over again until there's little left of me. If anyone takes anything of this with them as they carry on through life, then this over-long post will have been worth it! Cheers!

would have to be books, nd a lot of them, love to read, movies are fun but books i have more control over what i see hppening.
as for music, love it but as bad as i sing i can still pretend to be good, might even sound better than the real singers if i get stuck long enough. as for the tv, well thts like taking a car door to the desert so if you get hot you can roll down the window.there wouldn't be any signal.
as for the authors, just about anyone would work, but i like King and Clark best. and the whole set of alphabet mysterys would be nice.(got a crush on Kinsey Milhone)

Jan 14 @ 11:40PM
Mine would have to be books... I am so bad with to much to do I start many books.. I know I should read one at a time.. never could do that..That I never can gfet done reading them. I would be able to finish a book if I was stranded....
