I Rescued A Human Today

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively
into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I
wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had
in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been
walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to
think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my
past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in
someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my
shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle
fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship.

A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would
be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I
instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would
promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to
see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came
down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the
corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.

Thank God my dog rescued me.......

I like this a lot, and even though my dog was from a pet shop. I feel very strongly about adopting from a shelter. If I had known then what I know now, I might have had a different dog.

When I went into the shop where Sam is from, I took one look at that little puppy face and couldn't leave him there. I carried him around for the next hour while I talked my husband at the time that he needed to be rescued. He was getting too old and his chances of being taken were getting slim.

My other dog was dumped on the road with her brothers and sisters and a family took them in and gave them thier shot and took care of them til they were adoptable. She's one of the two best dogs I could have asked for.

Great Story,

Lots of us need that kind of rescuing. Maybe it will happen over the holidays.

You had me as soon as you wagged your tail sweetie. Seriously thou I have 6 dogs that have rescued me espeially my 14 year old Lab. She use to run and play with my kids when she was younger. When my ex and myself were having our problems and I felt I had no one she seemed to know I was upset and would come to me, lay her head on my leg and look at me as if to say everything will be okay. There were several times I thought of killing myself and probably would have if it wasn't for that old dog. Just when things seemed to be at it's worse there she was trying to let me know everything would be okay. By the grace of God I still have her although I know her days are numbered. She is almost completely deaf and I have to help her up and down the steps at times but I try as hard as I can to let her know now that everything will be okay and keep her as comfortable as I can. She has been such a blessing to me and now it's my time to give her the same loyalty and companionship that she has always given me. I know I will be losing her soon but I can't think about that for now. When she does finally go she will be taking the biggest part of my heart along with her. Me too Dogs are such great companions and are like people with fur. They definitely know when a person is down...they can sense that. Last time I went to the animal shelter it broke my heart. I just wanted to open all their cages and set them free
