In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I challenge each and every one of you to donate two cans of food to your local food bank.
I've done my part, I donated a case of tuna as meat products are the hardest for them to get. Get off your asses and get it done! You have two more days to donate before Thanksgiving.. help make someone else' Thanksgiving.

I'll call around today and find out where I can do that at. Tuna? That's a great idea. I always try to put in things I think get eliminated first when money is tight.

That's exactly what I did with the left overs I had from my garden. They also have trouble getting fresh vegiies and fruit. I just took a truck load of red and yellow delicious apples that I picked from my apple tree to the food bank Friday. That's a wonderful gesture and makes you feel good inside knowing you have helped someone. Come on everyone. Don't let anyone go hungry this Thanksgiving. Give what you can. I know everything is appreciated. Here's a kudo for you Skwirly Baby.

I'm one step ahead of your challenge, Sam. Already did this....do it every year, regardless. Will do it again before Christmas.
Too many people, especially children or parents who are making sure their children are fed, who are going hungry. Especially during the holidays..
But I didn't think about the meat thing that way...I have to go back out later today, but right now my checkbook honeslty won't allow me to do anything more. But will keep it in mind for Christmas.. I took 3 jars peanut butter, 3 jelly, 6 cans ravioli, 3 spaghetti, 3 cans of sauce and got some change back from a $20. I realize that to many of us $20 is a lot some times...but it's a lot to others who need the food too...

Oops had to come back and leave a kudo. hmmm, I'm scared to ask this but what do we think happens if you forget to leave a kudo and the Skwirl finds out?.....if you don't happen to have nuts to begin with that is..
I was just wondering I paid my taxes.

I did better than that.
I arranged to go a long way and help 3 different families to make ends meet financially and be able to have some extra gifts thru the holidays.
But, I will likely drop about 6 cans or so in a food box before its all over.

Done did do'd it 4 days ago. Plus I bought and am cooking a second turkey dinner for the homeless in my area.
As for Christmas; There is a single mother of two teenage boys in my area who wanted nothing more than a Back Pack and pair of Shoes for each of her boys. I bought them eack a New Back Pack and put a $50 gift certificate in each one. Not to forget the Mother though. I bought her a New Robe and Slippers and to make sure they ate am adding a $50 Safeway gift certificate. As I do every year. I cut back on my own personal needs starting in September in order to help people who have less than I do. I live alone and spend my Christmas's alone. So this is my one gift to me every year " knowing I was able to help someone less fortunate than mysef. It is a GOOD FEELING.
Here's A Basket of Green nuts for you Sam.

Thanks for the suggestion Sam. It's a good one. Please don't forget that if you have a toddler; and they have started eating real food, to send the left over baby food and formula to the food bank. There are a lot of babies out there that really need it and it's VERY expensive.
Kudos to you again Sam.

The cable company here has a deal going where if customers bring in at least 2 non perishable food items, they get 2 coupons for free pay per view or video on demand. So, this year I donated to them and I took some soups down to our local Salvation Army.

I typically don't do anything for Thanksgiving, but I do knit some warm wool mittens for kids that normally wouldn't get them as a christmas present to myself. It makes me feel good knowing that there are kids out there who actually have warm hands during the winter.

The local food bank here has been running super low this season. So at the office we've had a box up for several months. It fills up every few days and we take it over and fill up another one. This weekend I cleaned out the closets and took in three bags of sweaters, warm clothes and coats and a bag of shoes. Every little bit helps this time of year.
