Stuff yourself silly and sit back and watch some Football? That is the middle part of the equation. In the morning before the Lions game comes on, the women watch the parade and the men are out in the garage playing cards or dominos and drinking a little.
Then people start arriving and things move into house for the lions game. The munchies come out, notably deviled eggs. By 3:00 there may be up to 25 people there. I am not going to go into the array of food and desserts except it is usually two turkeys and a ham for the entree.
After the Cowboy game is over, the men are out in the garage playing cards or dominos and drinking more than a little. Friday morning we usually take the boat out and go fishing, but Ike may have screwed that up for this year.

Thanksgiving, like Christmas day for me is often just another day of the week. Sometimes spent with my kids...sometimes not. I have 30 reasons how it got that way....one for every year.
This year I've been invited to spend it with my sister, her family and of course, Mom. I haven't decided yet if I will but I suspect come turkey day I'll decide to stay home and just dawdle away the day however I choose. It works for me.

By 3:00 there may be up to 25 people there. What makes our Thanksgiving unique is that the core people are not related but rather what we term "family by choice" going back, now 34 years. It now includes kids and grandkids. As one of my 'brothers' put it, "When we have Thanksgiving, we have family, not relatives."

I cook starting the day before, then we all sit down to a (usually 14 course) dinner all talking at the same time. I cook everyone's favorites, so you never know who'll show up and what they will suggest I will cook. One year it maybe all traditional southern food, the next it could be something wild from another country. lol You never know what you'll find on my table, but you can bet the conversations will be interesting. Some will be watching football on tv, some will be watching the parades, others will be watching cartoons. There will be 3 or 4 tv's going and kids running everywhere, everyone talking at once, and a lovely chaos. I love every minute of it.

I will be helping a friend with the cooking and getting everything set up for the meal. I spent this weekend with her helping her needle felt a new table runner for the table. Otherwise i'd say to hell with the holiday as my family was never big on doing anything and my mother is not a good cook even if I could keep my mouth shut long enough to deal with them. Oh there is not enough booze to get me to spend the holidays with them other than the Christmas horrors we have every year. This is a much better arrangement I have for thanksgiving now.

Thank you my love, But I think I want to chill this Holiday. The parade sounds great, but I'm going to roast us a Duck, and make my family Canberry Sauce recipe, with potatoes and Brussel sprouts. (he loves them).
Maybe go find us a pie somewhere, My son always said he'd rather eat my leather than my pie crust. Don't blame him it's awful. LOL
It's will be simple, but we don't need a bunch for the two of us.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
