Why do we vote on a Tuesday... in November?

The short answer: We used to be a nation of farmers.

The long answer: Congress chose November because the harvest was over and the weather wouldn't be bad enough to prevent people from traveling.

As for Tuesday, people used to have to travel overnight to their polling location. (In 1845, horse was the preferred method of transport.)
In an effort to avoid religious days of rest, Congress chose Tuesday, leaving Monday and Wednesday as travel days. Tuesday was voting
(and horse-resting) day.

gonna cast my vote against

Isn't it a shame that it's come to that? Most people don't vote FOR someone but AGAINST the other guy? I hope this election will bring some lasting changes to politics in general. Like getting rid of the electoral college!

Thanks for that, I never knew that!

Very Interesting!

Well it isn't raining in NE Ohio, it's 70 degrees, a nice change from previous years filled with rain!!!

Didn't have to wait to vote, so it's been a GOOD day!!!

Didn't rain here in Alabama either, very warm and sunny, 74 degrees and no lines.
