I got bored and decided to do a little survey concerning blogs on what is different today from a year ago. It is kind of interesting.
A year ago a blog would stay on the new blog page for 24 hours. A blog posted now at noon will be on the new blog page for eight hours.
I also did a sampling of three bloggers with different styles; Sunshine79, Straddlemynose, and myself comparing blogs posted in September 2007 to September 2008.
What I discovered was consistent for all three. The blogs get less than half as many views, but just almost the same number of comments. The figures are below:

What I believe accounts for the drop in views is that a year ago a blog would not show up on the new blogs list if the poster had posted another blog within the previous 24 hours. Now it will show up on the list if there has been one blog posted by somebody else since that person posted their last one. Consequently there are more blogs being posted. Additionally, fewer people read blogs as they are much less interesting now than they were a year ago.
My theory on why the number of comments is relatively unchanged is that people increasingly do not read blogs in general but only blogs posted by certain people that they find likely to post something they find interesting.

I have noticed that there has been a huge drop in # of views on my blogs, and also comments. I have said that it is because, the way that AMD is now set up, is different than it was before. BEFORE, you logged in, and the blogs were BAM...right there in your face! And now you have to click on the blog tab. Us folks who have been around for a while, know this, but I am wondering if the new members may not be getting involved in the blogs for this reason...
and by the way....great blog! A kudos for you!

The site keeps losing numbers year after year. Hard to believe that you posted this blog still in the glory days of AMD.
Seems like the site, including a lot of long time members lost interest in it. Not the same AMD we once knew.
