I was chatting it up with someone here about how I picked my screen name Sunshine. And how I got my real name Megan.

Well....when I was born, my mom wanted to name me Sunshine. However, she had 3 other girls all with Irish names & didn't want me to be the oddball out stuck with a hippie name. So, last minute, she changed my name from Sunshine to Megan to match the rest of the girls Irish names.

Now....here comes the funny part....she told me, had I been a boy....she would have named me Barry....

WOW......damn sure glad I wasn't a boy.

So, what was your name supposed to be? Or if you were to be born of the opposite sex, what name did they have picked out for you??

not sure what my mom was gonna name me if I was a boy....BUTT....she said she had Holly or Wendy picked out for a girl....and I got the name Holly...and I was born 3 min before Valentine's Day and everybody always said to me when I was a little girl, "oh you must've been born around Christmas" and I told them no and that I was almost born on Valentine's Day and then they would say "well you should've been named Val". Yeah...I got that all the time...it was kinda annoying lol

My mom was hoping I'd be a few weeks early (instead of late) because she really wanted a Christmas baby she could name Christmas Noel. Yeah, no kidding! And, if you knew my last name, you'd realize what a mouthful that is! Egads. Karen Kathleen was also batted around but my last name starts with a K...so you can see why that one was pitched. They finally settled on naming me after an aunt and my grandfather. If I had been a boy, I was going to be William Wyatt...as were my sisters. My dad was pretty adamant about that.

I was in the hospital on Valentines day....I got to choose when my daughter came out, either Valentines or the day after....I chose the day after because it was her dads 28th b-day and my parents 28th wedding anniversary. We named her Sierra Ann. I had Dylan picked out in case she was a boy, I didn't find out til the last month that she was a girl.

My son was born on St. Patricks Day at 7pm weighing 7lbs 7oz. We named him Daniel Patrick (Patrick being my dads name)

When we walked in the room, the board said "Welcome baby Vincent" We were going to name him Vinnie.....Glad we chose Daniel/Danny....lol

And if he came out as a girl....which by all the ultrasounds we CLEARLY saw he wasn't a girl, I had Bella picked out for a girls name.

There was a diaper commercial the year I was born with a song in it. The name in the song was Christopher Michael. So if I had been a boy that would have been my name, since I was a girl they made it Christina Michele instead. Yes, I swear that's a true story!!!

If I had been a boy I was going to be named Johnathan, but since I was a premie and beat my cousin Johnathan to being born id of got it, except for the girl thing. Instead they named me after an actress in a movie my father had seen the nite before I was born.

My mom and dad first thought about naming me Shawn Michael, but went instead with Shawn Patrick . Talk about Irish names.

So, what was your name supposed to be? Or if you were to be born of the opposite sex, what name did they have picked out for you??

Good question. I'm going to have to ask my mom this one. But then again there are women out there with the name of Shawn. My first and middle names could have been Shawn Patricia.

Okay, I did ask my mom if I had been a girl what what was most likely to be my name. She said possibly Sherry, Sheryl, or even Dawn (after my dad whose name was Don). lol Anyway, I told you that I would get back to you with this.
