How many of you are watching the debate between Palin and Biden right now? Over the past week I feel that the media has given Palin a raw deal as far as making her to appear not too swift. I think she's doing well, and tonight she's having a strong showing in her debate with Biden (even though we're 40 minutes into the debate). She's very down to earth, very likable, and knows what it takes to help run a country.

Feel free to post a comment about the debate with their strong points and weak points from each if you wish, but don't make it too personal with attacks on either person, or party.

Been flipping around and got to NBC where it was stated that she "held her own". Personally I saw her not only "hold her own", but she won it by flying colors. She was energizing, talked to the American people (looking straight into the camara), being very direct, and came off very "Main Street America". She did the McCain-Palin supporters very proud tonight.

Yeah, if you call repeating yourself over and over energizing. I didn't find that she had anything new to add...it was the same old stuff she has been spewing on the talk show circuit.

Oh, wait, I had planned on following Belle...if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Ah, screw it. WoW commented (on another blog) that she reminds him a lot of Dan Quayle. LOL But, scary thing is, he actually became VP.

Palin: One heartbeat away.....that REALLY scares me.

Okay, I do have something nice to say about Sarah Palin...she is personable...certainly has a lot more personality than Joe Biden. But, does that make her a favorable candidate to run this country? Not in my book. I'd rather have someone that knows the laws of this land and has experience on the world stage...not someone that has met a few world leaders just because they were chosen as a running mate.

Here is a copy/paste of that comment:

I was disappointed with Biden. Both were on tight leashes. Biden was supposed to not talk too much and Palin to stay with the script. Biden was obviously supposed to avoid her and go after McCain and link him to Bush.

Palin did not impress me at all. I have a greater grasp of the issues than she does. I'd fuck her but not vote for her. Dan Quayle with tits as far as I am concerned.

She's very down to earth, very likable, and knows what it takes to help run a country
.

I will agree with two of those points while laughing at the third. I just hope for the sake of country that they find impropriety in her firing the pubic safety official and she withdraws from the race so a qualified candidate can be on the republican ticket in case they win. That woman scares me.

not someone that has met a few world leaders

Her meeting foreign leaders and visits to other countries has been more as a tourist than as an American government official. In some of the countries she claims to have visited, she never left the airport.

I have to say, I'm with Bruce on this. Except for fucking her I don't do women. According to something my sister saw last night either online or on TV, Biden was told to keep quiet and not to appear that he was "attacking" her in any way, shape or form or he would appear to be a bully. He was at a distinct disadvantage. Until last night, I didn't particularly care for him but, I've changed that opinion. To constantly sidestep the issues was a discredit to McCain's team and with all of the skeletons that have come out of her closet and the fact that the subpoenas that were served in her "Troopergate" scandal will be upheld, I am praying that she will not be able to carry on. I am ALL for the power of women, (hell, I am one! ) but, this woman is truly scary and the fact that when she was mayor of her town of 9000 people and was charging rape victims for their rape kits is just abhorrent in my eyes.

A while back everyone was upset with Obama's former religious affiliation with a racist church... but I don't hear too many screaming about Palin's affiliation with the "witch hunter' group. Except those of us who call themselves witches and practice a religion outside the norm. This broad and her hyper-religiosity scares the hell out of me. Not only does she appear dumber than a box of hair... her group could restart the burning times.. and frankly... if she gets in power I'm headed to Canada.

Troopergate"

I don't see how this has become an issue for her to be honest with you. I too would have fired the public safety official in refusing to fire the trooper who actually tazed his own 10 year old step-son with his stun gun. There's nothing to be held against her for doing this. I don't hear anything these days about this after it first came up. Seems like that's the only thing that the other side who hates her so much tries to use against her. If that's all the dems have then they're in trouble.

Watching the debate last night I did notice that Biden pretty much stole Obama's script from last weeks debate with McCain trying to link McCain with a third Bush term. I will say this again, if that's all the dems have, then they're in trouble. Biden also had lied at least 14 times in that debate last night. Hannity and Combs will probably cover this later tonight at 9pm on their show, so you may want to watch the show tonight.

As for Palin not answering any of the questions, I have to disagree with that. She was asked if she wanted to make a rebuttal to Binden's previous statement and chose to talk about taxes and the economy. Granted, McCain had her on a short leash, and if she was on her own to debate she would have done so much better last night. But she wasn't the only one on a short leash, Binden too was on one by Obama. The Moderator was pretty quick to not let Biden ramble on and on and on when his time expired so he wouldn't slip up like he is known to do. Like I stated last night, Palin kicked his ass and she was smiling and laughing the whole time doing it. Biden knows he got creamed last night. McCain really should let Palin out on her own to campaign for the ticket. Sometimes it seems that when McCain is up in the polls he does something stupid and tries to throw the race more towards Obama for some reason. Some of the shit makes no sense whatsoever. I will also add that Palin is actually the best part of that ticket. She's a hell of a lot more conservative than McCain is, and there are a lot of us that like her better.

if you call repeating yourself over and over

I saw Biden doing this the whole time saying John McCain this, John McCain that. Go back and watch the debate again. You'll probably get tired of hearing him say that what, 15 times through the night when it went back to him.

Hey Straddle , it's called "abuse of power" and she or anyone in that position has to hold themselves above reproach so as not to be embroiled in a scandal or possible "unfair termination" situation. From what I read, her ex-brother-in-law is a dirtbag but, the way everyone from her husband to her staff got involved was wrong.

Just my thoughts.

From what I saw on Fox and Friends this morning, Obama has a 2 or 3(maybe more?) point lead in the nationwide polls as of this morning. And honestly, I haven't really seen him lose that lead.

What I was saying is that she had NOTHING new to say, in my opinion, than the same things she has been saying for the past few weeks. She wouldn't even answer the questions posed to her...and stated as such. Did I find it tiresome? To quote her, "You betcha!"

Not saying that Biden came off as the clear winner nor that he didn't repeat himself during the night. But he has a much broader understanding of what is going on in our country and not playing like an ostrich, with his head in the sand. Palin can only seem to focus on a few things and, even then, she seems to get them wrong.

However, that being said, I would probably like her much better in person than any of the others running. I just don't think she is qualified to be our Commander In Chief.

I can say the same thing about all of you concerning Obama.

, it's called "abuse of power"

That wasn't the only reason she fired him. She also fired him for multiple insubordinations.

From what I saw on Fox and Friends this morning, Obama has a 2 or 3

Actually Obama is up 7% according to some polls. But it wasn't that way almost two weeks ago. They had McCain up by 3-4 at the time in the national polls. Expect a bump in the polls Tuesday for McCain after last nights debate.

Not saying that Biden came off as the clear winner nor that he didn't repeat himself during the night. But he has a much broader understanding of what is going on in our country and not playing like an ostrich, with his head in the sand. Palin can only seem to focus on a few things and, even then, she seems to get them wrong.

Same thing could be said for the 1960 debate between Nixon and Kennedy where Nixson came off looking like he knew more than Kennedy. But people were wowed by Kennedy and loved how he came off with people with his personaility and talking points. I still feel that Palin kicked ass last night!

As far as experiences goes, Obama really doesn't have the experience required for President!

Let me also add that Biden didn't seem to know the vice presidents role for which the constitution describes in it. He only thinks he has to vote on a tie breaker in the senate, and offer some advice to the president. He seems to think the role isn't all that important. Like I stated in my previous comment, Biden may know more about foreign policy, but she doesn't do bad at all in that area or any other. She certainly knows how to connect and talk with/to people.

I just don't think she is qualified to be our Commander In Chief.

She's running for vice president, not president. She also has more executive experience than Obama, and he's running for president. Obama's platform is "change". Now all of a sudden it matters with Biden's experience on that ticket?

McCain (even though I don't care much for him) is actually a true reformer. His history in the senate proves it with his record.

For the record, Obama has NOT released any records other than ONE page of health history from his doctor. That's it. Why hasn't he released everything else?!

I watched the debate and was thinking of only one thing; it doesn't matter who the candidate is, it is which corporate interest is holding the puppet / purse strings.
All you need to know to see that theory in action is that a $700b bailout plan was rejected because there was too much being spent. We now have the same $700b with an additional $180b dollars in pork that was just passed.
They are all corrupt and greedy. All that matters is who can keep the unemployment level in this country under control, the economy strong, and the coffers full. So far, I haven't seen a republican in recent years that has any idea what to do with a dollar of the public's money besides stick that bitch in his own sweaty pocket.

Bruce, you're watching too much CNN and MSNBC, and some CBS. The polls they ever do are samples from mostly dems. Less Republicans are ever rarely part of them. I have seen those flawed polls and I do not put stock in them whatsoever. I watched the debate and Palin clearly won as I stated in my previous comments on here. Most people watched them, and I'm willing to bet that most thought that she had won as well. Yes, I do expect a bump up in certain legitimate polls out there come Tuesday for her and McCain.

I watch all of those and Fox News as well. In point of fact, here is a link to what Fox News had to say about McCain and the slumping campaign.
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/04/mccain-seeks-comeback-final-month-campaign/

Here are a few points from the article cited above:
John McCain seems to be facing an uphill road to the White House, consistently trailing in national polls and slipping behind in practically every major battleground.

The Gallup national tracking poll on Saturday showed Obama with an 8-point lead -- representing the eighth straight day he's held a "statistically significant" lead in the poll. An average of state polls on RealClearPolitics.com shows Obama leading in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Florida and Michigan, among other battlegrounds.

Most people watched them, and I'm willing to bet that most thought that she had won as well.
AMD tends to have a fairly conservative membership when it come to politics. I tend to believe that AMD also is comprised of a lot of people that would describe themselves as independents as opposed to republicans or democrats. Look at the comments in this blog. You're kidding, right? Actually MD is more of the conservative site, and AMD has more liberal folks on here in my opinion. Any anyone who states that they're independent, well, I bet most of these people have voted dems over the past 8-12-16 years.

I have seen the Ohio poll, and the past 3-4 weeks including this weeks poll still has McCain up by at least 2% with Obama closing the gap. I still think McCain will win Ohio. As for Michigan, I thought that it was foolish for McCain to just give up on Michigan Wednesday even though some polls showed him losing by 10%. Floridia is still a tight race. As for early voting here in Ohio, there is now an overlap here in Ohio to where one can register to vote the same day they can cast an absentee ballot. I don't agree with this, there should always be a 30 day wait after to register to vote before casting any kind of ballot. Seems to me that if people were truly interested enough in voting they would have already be registered by then. Supporters of Obama has in fact been preying on certain groups to get them registered to vote. There's a group out of Cincinnati that's been going around the state to juvenile detention centers and registering these "juvenile" inmates that are between 18-21 to vote in the upcoming election. They were here in my county doing the same thing. I don't agree with that at all.

I'm glad we respectfully agree to disagree about Sarah Palin.
