Have you ever stolen a road sign??

I read that the mile marker 66.6 on the NJ turnpike was the most stolen sign along with Route 666. They aren't sure if it's bible thumpers who don't like the number, devil worshipers who like the number or college kids who think that 666 would look cool in their dorm room.

I have to say, I have only stolen one sign and it was a round metal sign, hot pink with a white paw print on it. It's the sign that sits at all of our bus stops here and I thought it was

U.S. Route 666, renumbered in 2003 to U.S. Route 491
Florida State Road 666
Ohio State Route 666
Pennsylvania Route 666

And Highway To Hell- Route 666 is a lonely, deserted stretch of road with a long history of accidents and apparitions. Because of the so-called bad luck along this stretch of road, state highway officials in all four states have been asked at one time or another to change the name of this highway. The only state to respond to this demand until just recently, was Arizona. Because a lot of Arizona motorists complained the highway running through their state is now named Highway 191. Also disgruntled, a man from Indiana wrote one of his U.S. Senators, asking why New Mexico didn't change their section of the highway's name. In each case and state (except in Arizona) the demands were tabled. Eventually, however, quite a bit of this highway has become Highway 191, even in Utah. Originally named in 1926, it was the sixth branch of the now defunct Route 66, and therefore became Route 666. Most of the highway now will be named Highway 191.

But, I bet the route 66 sign is the 2nd most stolen sign....route

A bunch of us dediced we wanted the flashing lights that go on top of the road blocks. There were four of them so we threw them in the back of my friends Trans Am. We got them home and there is no way to turn them off unless you have a special tool. So here we are in his living room trying to get these things apart all the while they just keep flashing, very brightly I might add. It's a wonder we didn't get caught before we had all torn apart and useless. After we had the lights off we returned the road blocks to their rightful positions.

I have taken a 35 mph sign before, but it was on the ground and in an area it wasn't suppose to be in.
