As I awoke in the dark and reached out for you,
I felt the emptiness of the pillow lying next to me,
I paused for a moment and then my heart knew,
It was only a dream of how I wished us to be.
It doesn't seem quite fair that you were just there,
Sharing with me the love deep within your heart,
Wasn't it your warm breath I still feel upon my hair,
Now sadly I remember many miles we're still apart.
I'll hug your pillow hoping back to dreamland I'll go,
Feeling your tender kisses and hearing your sighs,
Caressing the warm body that I've come to know,
Until morning appears and again I must open my eyes.
