Could or would any of you date or have sex with someone that has way different political views than you? Can a relationship work under these conditions? Some high profile couples I have seen where they're making it work. Mary Matalin (who worked under the current Bush) and her husband (what's his name? He worked Under Clinton) for example. Okay, I can only think of one couple. Anyway, what's your opinion, do you think it's possible for you?

Also, ladies, this question is for you. If you were to get married, would you vote the same way as your husband? I know a lot of women that do this.

*Off topic*

Anyone hear this morning about the latest news concerning that train wreck in L.A? New developing details have it that a teen was text messaging the engineer on the commuter train when the accident happened after running through the light signal. The teen claims he has proof of the text messages with the engineer on his cell phone. The engineer is one of many who had died in that crash. If this is true, we all know the engineer is at fault, but should the teen be accountable for distracting the engineer as well? I feel that he should be!

*Quote of the day*

You can put a pig in a pair of skidmark stained panties, and at the end of the day it's still a pig.

I don't really care about politics so dating someone with extreme views on it wouldn't bother me at all unless she marched around the house all the time spouting them off at me

In my opinion I think women are more likely not to get involved with someone with totally different political views than them. What's your take?

Arnold Swartzneggar and Maria Shriver come to mind.

I think it is a matter of how involved the person was in it. Most people I know are not all that involved in politics. The ones that I know that are with people that are fairly apathetic about it. A lot of times the political views tie in with other things like religion. If people don't have similar values, the chances for success are significantly diminished.

Date? That would depend on one thing....whether he stayed on a soap box about it. I knew one guy over a year ago that I told to get lost...I got tired of hearing about it.

No I didn't vote the same as my husband. He was a diehard Democrat. I always split the ticket. I voted for who I thought was best for the office....not for a political party.

I was married to a Republican for over 17years till death did us part.. We used to vote to cancel out each other's vote.. It was pretty interesting in my house all the time.. When we lived next to my parents my mom and I used to go vote together and I would tell him that we were one ahead.. LOL.. The funnest political season was when Ross Perot ran for Prez... HA HA HA boy were those some interesting days..

Mary Matalin and James Carville are another prominate couple that are political opposits that are married and have been for a long while now...

Yeah, I could not think of his name in my blog when I stated that Mary Matalin was married to what's his name. I meant no disrespect when I stated that, I really forgot his name until you posted it. lol

I do not care one way or the other about politics. I vote for the man, not the party.
But I see no reason why a wife should have to vote the same as her husband,
after all. They are two seperate individuals who have the right to their own opinions
and political views.
You ask will the marrage work ? Only if you accept them for who and what they are, and not try to change them to your way of thinking.

My ex husband and I met because we were artists and I modeled at an artists studio where he painted. I never though political issues would be an overwhelming issue for him. I knew him 6 years before we ever dated. After we were married it became a daily pain in my neck. he would get drunk, yell at me about political issues, and finally pass out. I asked him what he wanted to do about all these issues that were so important to him. He just liked to vent. If any actions were going to be taken it would be from me...he didn't even answer the phone. Finally I just had to impeach him. You live and learn.

another quote...You can dress a Pig up in pretty outfits that reak of feminity, and put her in staring roles with a handsome Frog. They can kiss, hug, and blow smoke up each others ass...but at the end of the day and they call rap you still have a Pig and a Frog! Now at the end of the day what do you do with the puppets? Lay them down until the next day when you stick your hands up there ass and show the world how you can make them act! , and I promis I am not a complete Dem....

It depends, if we respect each other as a person, then that person has to accept anything the other person believes in.

I pretty much agree with the people who say that they can deal with dating a person with different political beliefs as long as that person doesn't preach about them all the time. But when it comes to just having sex and not dating per se than I guess politics would become even less important because then your not really getting to know that person as well as if you were dating them (I hope that made sense).

generally speaking i only date radical communists out to overthrow
the union of soviet america, as if we don't pay enuff taxes as it is
to the bureaucratic boondoggle. they are so much fun to fuck
and suck with. like 'comrade x' starring clark gable and hedy lamarr.
spies are cool to date. they are so sexy and raunchy. meanwhile
you play the james bond soundtrack for them, it drives them wild.
a major scenario. women love far out scenarios and danger and
the potential of violence, but no, you smoothyly break out of
gang after gang together, as spies of the future saving the past.

I don't think it should make a difference. Agree to disagree, ya know?

would you vote the same way as your husband?
Just because he's voting that way.......NO. IF that is who I want to vote for yes....but only then.I'm quite able to think for myself , whether married or not.

That would depend on how extreme the persons political views were. To preach political views as if they are the only one right and all the others are wrong...no, that would get on my nerves real quick. I value differences of opinion, it gives insight to what others think. And a good HEALTHY debate is always nice.

Would I vote the same as my spouse...no. I vote for who I think is the better person, who will try to do the best for this country. I don't give much thought to "Party" when I vote. Guess that would make me an "Independent", but I actually consider myself "American".
