	I just got in touch with my friends at League City which is roughly between Galveston and Houston. If you have friends or family down there, you can get through to cell phones, but land lines are dead. My "family by choice" down there consists of about 30 people counting the kids. Everyone is fine. Those that didn't evacuate all gathered at the house with the highest elevation, a whopping 27 feet above sea level. On top of one of my friends' home where everybody gathered, is a 60 foot tall elm tree that was uprooted from the backyard and seemingly gently placed there with no penetration of the roof. They didn't know it was there until they came outside after dawn. All of the neighbors checked in on one another after daybreak and everyone was fine. They, as are millions of others, are without power. All of the fences (wooden) in the neighborhood are gone. Power lines are down. Tree limbs are everywhere and blocking the roads. None of the people that gathered are able to return to their homes to see what the condition is.

	Just a little update.... Ike is now reaching us and the Power Transformers are beginning to blow in our neighborhood. The wind is gusting and the rain has started. Our warnings are Flash Floods, Tornados, and High Winds. Our Inland Hurricane Warning is still in effect for now. We live on the banks of Lake Palistine, so, hopefully it won't be in our front yard before this is over.... . Glad to hear that some of ya'lls Family and Friends, though they are stuck right now, are doing ok and have survived the Storm.

	Thanks for the update.... continue to be safe.. a 60 foot tall elm tree that was uprooted from the backyard and seemingly gently placed there with no penetration of the roof. That's great news, Bruce..... sent shivers through me.. A few years ago I saw a part of a 60ft tall (approx) maple tree land on a neighbors house and the massive damage it caused. Luckily no one was injured.
