Prayers have been answered. Hurricane Gustav wasn't as bad as we thought that it was going to be when it hit the U.S. Out in the Atlantic we still have hurricane Hannah which is approaching Florida, but it plans on taking a sharp turn and head up the atlantic coastline and hitting South Carolina instead. Not sure how bad that one's going to be, but I don't look for it to be a big one, but things can change as we all know. Out further in the Atlantic we have another hurricane named "Ike". Been hearing a lot about this one and that this hurricane Ike could very well be a huge one on line to travel into the Gulf of Mexico and hitting New Orleans. I hope they're wrong, but that's the course they have it right now.

Btw, behind hurricane Ike we have yet another one. It's hurricane Josephine. Looks like that may be a bad one as well.

One question I've heard a lot recently is "What happens if we run out of hurricane names?" If we're unlucky enough to deplete the year's supply of names we won't, contrary to popular opinion, simply start using names from next year's list. In that case, the National Hurricane Center will turn to the Greek alphabet and we'll have Hurricanes Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, etc.

Yeah, they did this last time three years ago (2005) when we had so many that year. I never knew this before until they had done this and thought that it was pretty cool.

I wish those hurricanes would just go away....I wanted to watch the convention cus I enjoyed the democratic one....I like all the speeches...well some of them are kinda boring...but I like all the excitment and hoopla...now that things aren't as bad as they thought maybe they will get the convention going again.

Yeah, we plan on getting it kicked off today, and we're still not sure if we're going to try to put what was suppose to start last night into tonight and make it a 2 for 1 deal. If we do this then ABC, CBS, and NBC need to start airing at 9pm (est.) for two hours to make up for last nights loss of it.

I just saw on the news that there is another one (unnamed) behind Ike. But every cloud has a silver lining. In this case, thanks to Gustav, we expect some much needed rain today

Thank you for posting that...interesting.

You can watch it wall to wall on CSPAN. That is what I did for the dems as you can hear the speeches without pundits and commentators talking to each other. I was very upset with CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News in their coverage as they all had their pundits flapping their gums during speeches until the headliners spoke.

Bruce, throw some of that rain up this way. lol Actually, we may get some of Hannah's rain after it slams into South Carolina and work it's way northwest into the southern part of the Ohio river valley before it starts heading back to the north-northeast.
