she reminds me of one of the women from alaska i met on this site just briefly. a very calm, balanced and sane person. the call of the wild by jack london. a very good shot. one who knows how to ride, shoot, play cards, and drink yukon jack whiskey and stay sober while drunk. has academic knowledge also. alaska is no picnic to rule. so many ruff and ready types up there. some of the people i knew moved there. many military bases there. used to belong to russia. was called seward's folly. what did the u.s.a. pay for it? 23 million dollars i think. mush. away go the dog sleds. huskies. the big oil is there, waiting to be tapped. pipelines galore. will the pipelines have to be replaced? it often is a cold day in june in alaska. and let's not talk about baked alaska. midnight suns and noon day darkness.

Oh yeah, She's pretty hot! But I also think this could be a very good pick for us. The only thing I worry about is her lack of experience on the ticket. But then McCain makes up for that with years of experience.

The only thing I worry about is her lack of experience on the ticket. I think this all fairly balanced:
Democrats- Presidential Candidate...lack of experience Vice Presidential Candidate...Years of experience
Republicans- Presidential Candidate....Years of experience Vice Presidential Candidate....lack of experience
Yep...this is going to be an interesting election.

I felt very weird and a bit ashamed when I saw her on the news as my sentiments were "Damn fine looking woman, let your hair down." First time I ever wondered what a politician looked like in the nude!
I watched her being interviewed on CNN and she appeared to be sharp, earthy, and pragmatic. I think that her selection really puts a joker in the deck and really does signify a change in politics as usual when combined with Obama. She is a maverick and I don't know how that will sit with Rush Limbaugh republicans as she seems to be much more of a centrist. I do look forward to getting to know more about her and her selection heightens my interest in republican GTG in St. Paul this next week. The race for the white house is coming together to be great political theater.

One of the things she brings to the table is this...........
Gasoline is $4.00 a gallon and she is on record as being in favor of more drilling for oil in Alaska. All the disasters that enviornmentalists predicted would happen when the trans Alaska pipeline was built........ never happened. Not one. The democrats are desperately trying to hold off any sort of vote on offshore drilling and Alaska drilling until AFTER the election. Any decisions at this point would help the current administration. They are assuming that Obama will win and at that point, they can come riding in to save the day.
Drill here, drill now.

more drilling for oil Until there is investment and expansion in developing refineries it doesn't matter. We can only refine 97 percent of current capacity. There has not been a new refinery built in the US since the seventies. Drilling will not produce shit without developing our infrastructure.

She has a very big lack of experience I think. And McCain is another 4 years of Bushism. Just my opinion. But then I don't like the other side either.

As someone who has met her and seen her in action... she has my utmost respect.
She does not play the party line. She asseses a situation and seeks permanent solutions to problems. She does not pass the buck and demands a high standard from those who work for her. She doesn't take crap and calls bullshit when she sees it.
She has done a lot of good for Alaska in her 2 years as state governor. It doesn't matter which party she was with or if independent I would vote for here just because I have seen her put her money where her mouth is and get results for the greater good where I live.
The woman has a rare thing in politics.... principals and ethics. She also understands that she has an obligation to the voters who elect her. She knows the definition of public servant.

She is a maverick and I don't know how that will sit with Rush Limbaugh republicans as she seems to be much more of a centrist. I learned a little more about her last night and early this morning. She's more of a strong conservative with family values. She's against abortion, believes in cutting taxes, it for drilling in Anwar that's in Alaska, has been an NRA members for a number of years, loves hunting, and is very well respected. I see people warming up to her more and more in the coming weeks. As for Rush Limbaugh, he thinks it was a very wise choice and is tickled to death.
As a few people pointed out on here in the comments, both parties have some strong experiences on the tickets, along with some lack of experiences with their running mates. What Obama lacks with experience, Biden makes up for....and what Palin lacks with experience, McCain makes up for that. Some would ask that with her having a lack of experience and is only a heartbeat away from the presidency, would you want her in there? I ask this however...I would rather have her gain the experience along the way as a vp then I would putting someone in there for president who's running mate has more experience that he does.
