Southern Louisiana...

People.. get packed and get the hell out of dodge! Don't sit around and expect this one to dodge you. Be safe.. and for fucks sakes evac the hospitals and nursing homes too.

My Partner's Parents are in NOLA, St. Bernards Parish... they wanted to argue with him a bit about getting out.. theirs was one of the homes that was pretty much destroyed by Katrina.. you'd think they'd have learned that lesson by now.. well I guess they did cuz as of today they are packed and ready to roll.

I just can't believe that, after Katrina, anyone would even seriously consider not staying.

Yeah, I know, it's not my house, not my stuff... blah blah blah... or maybe I'm a big wimp.. get out.. get safe.. get a few feet above sea level!!!

it couldn't possibly happen twice now could it? (sarcasm on)

My Brother-in-law is a helicopter pilot and flies out to Oil Rigs in the gulf. If a Hurricane is even projected to just brush by on the platforms, they get everybody out and ground all the choppers. That's the cue I'd go by.

I`d pack -up and go .....not think twice ...

Its hard for me to believe it they would stay harder to believe actually that they ever went back.........

After coming face to face with Hugo here in the Carolinas, many moons ago.....
all I have to say is RUN !!!

Aug 29 @ 5:46PM
I'm going to have to agree. Better safe than sorry. Right now they're forcasting a "3", but we all know that anything can change in the Gulf of Mexico with the very warm water down and currents down there. "3" is nothing to take lightly either.

Good advice...... I'd sure be taking a swift vacation from there after seeing the masses of destruction and the loss of lives from Katrina.

good time for a vacation in vegas

Run don't walk to the nearest EXIT.

I wouldn't give a damn if it were my house in the line of a hurricane....I'd be getting the hell out of there if I saw a Category 3 or higher hurricane barreling down towards my house. A house and belongings can always be replaced...ya just got to be alive in order to do that.

Some good advice there Skwirl...hopefully those in the path of Gustav will get out and go somewhere safe.

Aug 29 @ 8:28PM
I can't believe it's heading there again.....such a shame.

Aug 29 @ 9:29PM
I agree, if the resources are available. Kudo.

Enough leavin today that the I 110 is moving about 1.5 mph.. but better that than sit at home and drown. They don't expect the levees to be topped this time.. but hey .. they didn't expect em to break last time did they?

I was glad to see on that they had people lining up to take teh free bus out of town too. Firefighters are evacing the nursing and assisted living homes.. (that's better than last time)

I just pray that no more lives are lost...

PS Haiti looks like a war zone ... with about 4 foot of water in the streets.

Aug 30 @ 6:04PM
and hurry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aug 31 @ 12:49PM
I heard on the news last night that the storms have been upgraded. and That the engineers that are rebuilding the levee's don't think it will hold this time either. They said the program they had in place won't be done for many more years and they were hoping the weather would cooperate until all the repairs could be done. Dunno, but it seems to me that if they wouldn't hold only 3 years ago what makes us think they will now?

My sympathy goes out to those that are STILL living in FEMA trailors because they can't get thier homes repaird. I saw on a tv show not too long ago about a family of 6 living in one of those little bittie trailors. They weren't dirty by any means, The just had what was left of thier lives stuffed into that trailor. To me that's sad. We can spend millions and billoins of dollars on rebuilding other countries, but we can't seem to make a difference in the lives of the people of this country.
