Cont....
One cop comes over to ask a few questions. Very few are actually answered, but someone does stress to him that Kate will need as much information a she can get and she needs to go to a shelter...preferably outside of the city.
We soon go home and I find myself laying in bed unable to sleep. Wondering...in awe of that dark place where people choose to live. A life I cannot fathom. To have fear instead laughter, screams instead of music, depression instead of looking forward to each new day. And I STILL can't sleep. That darkness has touched me somehow and I can't get the thought out of my head that this goes on. And on and on and on.
But there is another way. There IS a life that can be seen with hope, and even more than that, anticipation. And as I drift off to sleep it is the life that I have created for myself that swirls through my head. The smell of my clean sheets, the things I need to accomplish tomorrow, and the fact that I'm going to write about this. Tell the truth. Shine a bit of light onto that darkness. It's what I do. It's all I know to do.

I wonder how many people who read this could count on 20 friends to come out of their warm, clean sheets late at night to help stop a predator. She is blessed in more ways than one. And you proved that there is power and illumination in numbers. I'm glad you chose the light for you and yours.

Sadly, not many battered women can claim even 2 friends who would run to her rescue. In the most recent case here... it's just me.. yeah there are a couple of guys who would go kick the dog crap out of him, but what good would that actually do? Just give him a sympathy card to pull on her. Sigh.. yeah it's a fucked up situation no matter how you look at it.

good movie on the subject: after hours starring teri garr. i bought the dvd.
subject of movie, compter data puncher, tries to get laid in greenwich village,
with artists after work. has his date and getting laid all planned out however the artists have a far different plan for his life. and his 'night out on the town'.
sorry if i blew your cover. it was necessary. all part of 'the Plan'. isn't it
odd how in these days of synchronicity, the same day i blew your cover on
this site, that same famous person's wedding was announced on yahoo news.
'they' were wedded last saturday i believe. did you know the treasury dept.
has a public relations dept. too? so does the l.a.p.d. the 'image' of the l.a.p.d.
and the 'reality' of the l.a.p.d. no, sorry, the l.a.p.d. is not like it is on 'dragnet'.
and no it is not like it is on, 'sledgehammer'. sorry, the l.a.p.d. is not
like it is on tv, or the movies in the least. one day the l.a.p.d. has vowed
to arrest 'columbo' peter falk, for impersonating a policeman. and all the
other 'actors' who impersonate 'real' people. but- 'public relations' and propaganda.

Somewhere between 20 friends and no friends is the legal right of self-defense with a deadly weapon. Terrific story LMC. You all did the right thing. jimmy dougherty married marilyn monroe when she was 16, and went
in the merchant marine during world war 2. that was about 1942. a lotta of
us growing up looked up to all those people, and thanked god ten million
times they were born when they were, not back then. the future looked
so promising for those 'hoping to stay alive'. one book i read, seemed most
factual, had marilyn monroe having gone to van nuys high school. jimmy dougherty worked for the l.a.p.d. mostly the vice squad ironically enuff,
after his divorce from marilyn and returning alive after world war 2. now
when the cops arrive at the house where alleged abuse is taking place,
the whole call could be bogus, and submachine guns may be waiting
for them when they pull up. its pretty hairy scary. i'll continue this
discussion on 'the greatest day of my life' above.
