HA! I love it...it is Dead Elvis week in Memphis and the impersonators are out in all their glory...My favorite is ELVEZE...he is Mexican...and he fuckin rocks. I saw him for the first time the night before I started working on The Client (john grisham movie) . His back up girls had tiny weeny sambreos as bra cups attached to their halters. It was a great time...rip away pants...and all the Elvis you could possibly want. I work next door to the Hearbreak Hotel and down the street from Sun Studios, and the shop where Elvis worked is on that street too. Monroe...yep thats the street. I live within a great sense of the old, and an appreciation for it too. I have met them all...and Blind Mississippi Morris is on that list too. You name them, I have seen them dead and alive...cause I live in Memphis, and there is a painting of me on Beale Street...ya gotta love life and the music history brought to us by Elvis! Gosspil, Blues, Rock a Billy...Memphis has it...and Elvis brought it to everyones attention. In the day when segregation was the way, Elvis exposed the music of many blacks you would never have heard if he hadn't sang it for them...What the hell would we be listening to if it weren't for Elvis...lovin life, and livin the dream...he did it and I get it!

The Sun Studios tour is great. History oozes out of the city. And there are neighborhoods of Memphis where you would believe that Elvis could walk around the next corner at any time. I guess this week he might!

Guess how many takes it took for elvis to record...you ain't nothin but a hound dog...30...and he picked #28.... When I was young, when that song was played, I would dance and bop around. My mother thought that was so cute that they bought the record and a record player to play it. The one they had at the time only played 78 RPM records and it was a 45. Damn, I am an old fart.
Jailhouse Rock, Heartbreak Hotel, Hard Headed Woman, etc. were all classics that defined rock and roll. By 1960 he had lost it to me. I can't stand Elvis impersonators.
