Below is my very unofficial list of the 50 worst #1 songs from the time period 1970-1999.
This is all for fun, so feel free to add, as I'm sure I forget one, or two, or forty, but don't be offended if I pick on a song you actually like, as this is just for fun.
Remember, these are songs that hit #1 only.
50)---"MMMBop"---Hansen---1997---This song actually went to #1 in 27 different countries and was nominated for two Grammy Awards. I'm not kidding!
49)---"Private Eyes"---Hall & Oates---1981---I don't know what was worse, the song or the video.
48)---"Crocodile Rock"---Elton John---1972---It was either this one or "Island Girl", which was also horrific.
47)---"Baby Got Back"---Sir Mix-A-Lot---1992---I lost a lot of respect for the Grammy's when this song won one in 1993. Any song that begins with "I like big butts and I cannot lie" might be fine to put on your cell as a ringtone, but it has no business winning a Grammy.
46)---"Abracadabra"---Steve Miller Band---1982---Steve Miller put out some good stuff. This was not one of them.
45)---"Physical"---Olivia Newton John---1981---Ok, I admit, I liked the video, because Olivia was freakin' hott, but the song is brutal.
44)---"Ring My Bell"---Anita Ward---1979---One of the reasons why disco died.
43)---"When A Man Loves A Woman"---1991---Michael Bolton---Another bad recording that won a Grammy.
42)---"Hello"---Lionel Richie---1984---Lionel Richie went from being one of the greatest R&B singers off all-time to being the second coming of Barry Manilow with this song.
41)---"Together Forever"---Rick Astley---1988---This was Astley's last hit. Good.
40)---"Babe"---Styx---1979---The beginning of the end for Styx as a true rock band.
39)---"Good Vibrations"----Marky Mark & The Fun Bunch---1991---The name of the group itself should be good enough to at least have one song on the list.
38)---"Ghostbusters"---Ray Parker, Jr.---1984---Who you gonna call?...lol
37)---"I'm Too Sexy"---Right Said Fred---1991---You knew this was going to be on here.
36)---"Play That Funky Music"---Wild Cherry---1976---I just never liked the song
35)---"Maneater"---Hall & Oates---1982----I can put a lot of Hall & Oates songs on here.
34)---"Shake Your Groove Thing"---Peaches & Herb---1978---I remember this one from my skating rink days.
33)---"Chicka Boom"---I apologize, as I don't know the artist are the year (1970's). I just remember "Chicka boom, chicka ahhh, don't you just love it." No, I don't.
32)---"Lost In Your Eyes"---Debbie Gibson---1989---Debbie had some bad songs, but that was her only #1.
31)---"Rock Me Gently"---Andy Kim---1974---You hear this song on that car commercial nowdays. Too bad for you.
30)---"Y.M.C.A."---Village People---1978---Seriously, it's not fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A.
29)---"Wild, Wild, West"---The Escape Club---1988---Yeah, it went to #1....no, I don't know how.
28)---"Hooked On A Feeling"---Blue Swede---1976---I know you like the dancing baby, but you can't like the song...can you?
27)---Opposites Attract"---Paula Abdul---1989---Damn Scat Cat
26)---"Disco Inferno"---The Trammps---19777---I admit, I liked some disco. This was not one of them.
25)---"Achy Breaky Heart"---Billy Ray Cyrus---1992---A country #1, but it has to be on here
24)---"That's What Friends Are For"---Dionne Warwick & Friends---1986---I got a cavity every time I heard this song.
23)---"Two Hearts"---Phil Collins---1989----Ok, I grew up in the 80's, so I'll have more 80's stuff on here.
24)---"Da Ya Think I'm Sexy"---Rod Stewart---1978---Rod has had some great stuff and some awful stuff in his long career.
23)---"Roll With It"---Steve Winwood---1988---I never got into Winwood
22)---"Bad Medicine"---Bon Jovi---1988---Terrible lyrics
21)---"Ice Ice Baby"---Vanilla Ice---1990----Could/should be higher
20)---"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now"---Starship---1987----"We Built This City" was voted the worst song of all-time by a magazine last year. This song is worse.
19)---"Hangin' Tough"---New Kids On The Block---1989---Do I have to say anything?
18)---"Get Outa My Dreams, Get Into My Car"---Billy Ocean---1988---I'm glad Billy hasn't had a hit in years.
17)---"Bad"---Michael Jackson---1987----The title says it all.
16)---"My Love"---Paul McCartney & Wings---1973---No way this song goes to #1 if McCartney's name wasn't behind it.
15)---"Macarena"---Los del Rio---1996---Any song where the dance is more popular is not good.
14)---"Do That To Me One More Time"---Captain & Tennille---1980---lol
13)---"Oh Sheila"---Ready For The World---1985---Apparently, the world wasn't ready for them.
12)---"Maniac"---Michael Sembello---1983---Only a hit because of "Flashdance"
11)---"One Sweet Day"---Mariah Carey & Boys 2 Men---1992---The biggest hit in the history of the Billboard Hot 100. Are you serious?
10)---"Thank God I'm A Country Boy"---John Denver---1975---Oh dear
9)---"Billy Don't Be A Hero"---Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods---1974---People actually like this?
8)---"Justify My Love"---Madonna---1990---They banned the video. They should have banned the song too.
7)---"I'll Be Missing You"---Puff Daddy & Friends---Of all the crimes committed by a sampler, this might be the worst.
6)--"Glory Of Love"---Peter Cetera---1986---Bubble gum city
5)---"Rock On"---Michael Damian---1989---He should have stayed on the "Young & The Restless"
4)---"The One That You Love"---Air Supply---1981---I hated Air Supply
3)---"You're Having My Baby"---Paul Anka---1974---Just plain....I can't even explain how bad it is
2)---"Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"---Wham!---1984---Scary that this song was so huge
1)---"Disco Duck"---Rick Dees---1974---The worst #1 hit off all-time! Can you believe htis song sold 4 million copies!?

Lionel Richie went from being one of the greatest R&B singers off all-time to being the second coming of Barry Manilow with this song. I think I've had that exact thought.
I'm too lazy to find out if he ever had a #1 hit, but I want to add anything by Neil Diamond, to this list.
Good blog!

That must have taken some research. I don't know most of those songs fortunately. But I am very specific in the genres I listen to also (classic rock, blues). Of the ones I know on the list, Achey Breaky Heart is by far the worst.
A few years ago there was a panel of experts assembled for Rolling Stone to come up with a list of the 50 worst rock and roll songs of all time. The worst song according to the panel was We Built this City on Rock and Roll by Jefferson Starship.

It was a hit for Daddy Dewdrop but I remember it being done by The Groovie Goolies (ah! didn't you love those Saturday Morning cartoons?).
I admit, I liked some disco. If you are man enough to admit so am I. Kind of miss it...but not the Angel Flights!

I'm sure a missed a few, and don't hold me to the order. I mean, "Ice Ice Baby" should be higher.
That being said, I can't imagine a #1 being worse than "Disco Duck".
I even liked a couple of these songs growing up. But like I said, this was all for fun.
By the way, I think I changed the setting to where anyone can reply. I'm new here, so I'm learning as we go.

You missed "Convoy" on your Top 50 list...speaking of ducks...

As far as most of your list goes, I can see it. But no fucking way on numbers 2, 12, 20, 23 (Two Hearts), 24 (That's what friends are for), 35, 38, 42, 45, and 46.
Giving you a kudo anyway for coming up with a good blog with a lot of peoples interest.
Btw, you should check out in one of my blogs a while back with the best top 30 songs of all time in my opinion.
