The Olympics start August 8 and I know a lot of people are going to be watching it. What part of the Olympics are you most interested in watching this summer? There is one gymnastic olympian that got my attention recently. Her name is "Shawn" Johnson. She pretty much got my attention because of her first name (like mine), and you don't see many females named Shawn. lol Also, who has been your favorite Olympian over the years? I have a few favorites that I can list. They are Mary Decker Slaney, Zola Budd, Mary Lou Retton, Carl Lewis, Shannon Miller to name a few.

Btw, How many females can you list with the name Shawn? Shawn Ireland, Shawn Johnson, Shawn Weatherly....I know of a few more, but can't think of them right now.

The more they talk about steroids in the olympics the less I watch it from one to the next. I like the team sports: water polo, basketball, soccer and some of the track and field.

But remember my sex olympics blog? I'm really looking forward to some of them events.

Basketball. It's one of the only times I can watch professional basketball players.

And Bruce Jenner was one of the greatest all around athletes of his time.

I'm with PP. I wanna see the sex olympics. Bet we can compete in those games!

I'll be watching gymnastics (women's and men's) and equestrian events. Some of the others are of some interest...diving, track and field, swimming...but most are boring to me.

My first Olympic hero was Olga Korbit...the little russian girl who stole everyone's heart! I couldn't have been more the 7 or 8 at the time...but I wanted to be her!

Then I think it was the next Olympic games when Nadia Kominichi broke the record for the most perfect 10's...I was almost jealous because I still liked Olga, but Nadia was so much better if not nearly as likeable (she never smiled!)

I haven't been keeping up with who's who on the Olympic teams this year...just watched the Grand Prix today and saw some of the U.S. equestrian team...so I guess I'll just have to wait and see who my favorites are when the games start.

Around 29400 US females are named shawn!

The one event I watch at any level is boxing. The others, I usually watch the semi finals and finals. Synchronized swimming is the one I don't watch at all. The Olympics will be the only thing that I watch while it is on. I love it, every four years.

I must admit that I always found "Sean" to be the more masculine spelling. Perhaps due to Sean Connerly. About 20 years ago, some friends of mine discovered the wife was pregnant. If the child was a boy, his name would be Sean, if a girl, Shawn. It was a boy.

The two spellings for boys are about equal according the site I put the link up to. There are more males with the name Shawn than females.

I anticipate that the common names now for babies in Texas are Juan and Maria.
