The wind blew across the jungle canopy
sending a shower of petals to come raining down
upon us as we made our way down to the ocean.
On the wet sands of the beach
we wrapped ourselves around one another
much like the wild vines
that stretched and wound themselves
around the house and trees.
i watched while You used the tree as a ladder
climbing to reach the coconuts
Though in truth?
It looked as though You were reaching for the stars.
And perhaps You had.
Reached them that is.
Because later, as i lay in Your arms once more,
the sounds of the night tide heard
lapping against the shore
as it licked against our feet
i looked into Your eyes and saw them there.
The stars.
i saw the stars...i saw love.
