I live in Central Va., The Weather in Newport News is about what we have here.... Hot and muggy, this time of year, Very humid! The Cost of Living is a lil higher there, than here, but is Less than in Fl. im sure! I would rather live in VA. Beach.. which is next door to Newport News I Love VA. Beach!! The Economy Sucks Im sure..just like most everywhere in the USA ! I have a good friend that lives there, mostly good ppl. But more, snooty than here... we are down home "Country" Ppl... they are City Ppl...lmfao! Good Luck! and Welcome to Virginia!!!

I'm from Hampton, VA and lived in Newport News for a year or so. Like the comments before, the weather is hot and humid. Food, gas and other staples are probably a little cheaper than Florida. Denbigh (a neighborhood of Newport News) is a nice area with plenty of shopping but other parts can be pretty sketchy. Norfolk, VA Beach and Hampton all have convention centers for concerts, museums, plays, etc. Have a safe move and say hello to my hometown for me!

I just spent a week in Williamsburg. Temps were in the hight 90's with the temperature/humidity index in the mid 100's.
Pack plenty of talcum powder.
