You know whats worse than a 30 year old living in Mamas/Grammas Basement (read Stereotype)?
How about a 40something, his wife and three kids. I'm not talking about a temporary situation here. This is their entire married life. I'm talking about my wife's sister and her husband and their kids. Granted, the do pay the occasional rent....like once a year. My Father-in-law is to nice to pester them for rent money although he has asked about it once or twice. Last year he did and they claimed they didn't have any money and (gasp) they came a week later with a new Pontiac. They sometimes feed themselves but more often than not they are eating with the folks when, of course, they are not going out to eat. Thing is, they both have jobs. He's an electrician and she is a grocery procurement rep for a pretty large chain. They don't help with the yardwork or anything like that and find excuses to get out of anything they are asked to do. Here's another kicker, they don't see that they are being parasites and anybody that my in-laws help with something are subject to being shown favoritism, in their view. Isn't that the definition of a parasite, or am I being jaded?

I had a similar situation, my sis in law her boyfriend & there son lived with us for 2 years..at first to get a place as they just moved back to MI & so they could save money to get there own place..we had similar problems with them never helping & eating all of our food...the only reason they finally got there own place was the fact that we started packing our stuff telling them that we were selling the house & moving..Absolutely they are parasites, i feel your pain bandengor as long as they don't push the issue the situation will never change..sorry you have to go through all this.

yep I would call them parasites.........but which is worse the ones who are a parasite........or the ones that enable them to be parasites..........if F-n-law would put foot down and toss them out I bet they could get along just fine......

So fucked up. My sis and her hubby are truck drivers OTR and they live with my parents because they are mostly on the road. Granted they blow money out their asses buying new cool shit and eating out all the time. But, they do pay rent, buy groceries, cook and do yardwork.
