It just cost me $75 to 3/4 fill my Ford Explorers gas tank tonight. The price went up here to $4.97/gal this week. OMG!!! I almost had a heart attack!!! I wonder if the price will ever drop when the oil barrel price falls.
My heating oil went up around the same price too. I will be using electric heat this winter as it is now more cost effective with the hydro dam here than oil.
Going to get my inactive arse on a bike too as the grocery store is only a mile away and downtown 2.7 miles.

There are rumors that the gov't is going to rein in the speculators. I haven't heard details on how this will be accomplished, but I'm guessing it's just pre-election fluff.
Remember, too, that the US dollar has lost a lot of value recently, thanks to our federal gov't spending money it doesn't have. Hence, InBev SA, a Belgian brewer, could afford to spend over $50 billion for Anheuser-Busch.

In regard to One Horny Toad. Haven't you seen the news? The government is going to step in. They voted to sue OPEC. Some in Congress want to add a 10 cents per gallon tax on it.
You have to guess, which parrty they are from. Last federal gas tax increase I remember was 5 cents in 1992. Guess who was President then? Think about it when you vote in November. Some people in our country believe Americans should be punished because we are blessed with so much.

I'm not sure what the conversion rate works out at ,but here in Australia I'm paying $1.93 a litre for diesel at the moment and its tipped to hit $2 a litre by christmas.

Holy fuck, I only live 2 blocks to and from work and I have an explorer too. I haven't put more than 23$ in for almost the past year. I don't go further than 25 miles while traveling and when I want to go for a trip, I rent a car.......Way cheaper than filling my gas guzzling explorer!!

Gas went down here to 3.83 but really even tho it went down its still too damn high........I dont know how they expect us to live when we have to pay out half of our wages to get to work...........I would rob a bank to help with my finances but I think I would get more money if I robbed a gas station............
But thank god our oil companies are still making trillions of dollars.......I mean at least a few ppl in this country are getting by.........

rembemer when gas was only 99 cent's a gallon.....I want those days back, but I am sure we will never see them again  I am still paying 3.99 and hope it begins to decrease soon or I may have to resort to hitchhiking....LOL

Will it stay below $4 or even continue going down? I believe it will eventually unless the Iran situation takes another turn toward the ugly, or Hurricane season threatens off-shore rigs, or people take on a sense of artificial euphoria over lowering prices and demand grows.
