Well, folks, the news isn't so good... the tumor does in fact appear to be between 4-5 centimeters and the lymph node also tested positive for cancer...this means all the lymph nodes on that side will have to be removed...as far as the tumor, there are 2 options...one is to have a complete mastectomy and then chemo and radiation...the other is to do the chemo first to try to shrink the tumor and still do a lumpectomy and radiation...i am scared of chemo, but i guess i will do what i have to do... i am shocked at this news, i really didnt expect it...i hope i have the strength to fight this and tolerate the chemo, the doctor says that my age and general health are in my favor... your support, prayers and encouragement are appreciated... but, don't laugh at me when i am bald...

You do have the strength. You can do whatever you need to do. And you will be even stronger for having gone through it.
Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
And no laughter. You bald, will still be more attractive than me with a full head.

DB, we got your back. We'll help you win this fight!
As far as the bald thing goes, don't sweat it. You're still you, with or without hair. Remember when Demi Moore got a crew cut? I thought she looked hot! I would bet you would look good bald, too!
One of my customers has stage 2 bone cancer. Instead of chemo, he's on some kind of pill based regimen instead of chemo. If he hadn't told me he had cancer, I would have never known. He still yells at me like his normal self! Anyway, I'm not sure if this is an option for you, but it wouldn't hurt to ask your doc if something like this would work for you.
Take care of yourself. We're thinking good thoughts for ya!

You have the strength, it's there...you just don't know it yet. I agree fully with staying positive, thinking positive, speaking postive. I watched my sister go through this a few years ago and she's doing just fine now. You are in my prayers and we're all here when you need us.

No guarantees, no promises. It's all a crap shoot. And over and over we learn that we all fall in the gutter...it's the rising from the gutter that is important. Keep reminding yourself no one rescues, and god's only intervene in a way that makes sense to the story teller, so it takes 'you' to rise.
And because all the mental junk that comes with cancer affects even the battle in which you are engaged, all research suggests finding a support group, a support circle, of women experiencing similar challenge, with whom your unique story, and its unique dimensions and meanings, can be shared with people who 'get it' because they're walking beside you on the path...
And if you have family that feels it, suggest they go to a group too. All research points to the therapeutic value of support groups during one's cancer challenge.
Best of luck, best of all....

I'm sorry it's not the news you were hoping for...You have the strength to face this and to get through it!! I believe that...I also know that when my best friend was bald due to chemo from breast cancer, she was beautiful!! Noone is going to laugh unless it's you laughing at a particular scarf, hat or something because you would have normally laughed at it anyways....
My prayers and best wishes are with you all the way.....

Hey DB... thinking of you!!
BTW... There are a ton of awesome wigs made by Locks of Love.
I know I donated 2 feet of my hair to it back in 1998 and 12 inches again 2 years ago when I had it all cut off.
Have fun with it if it makes you go bald. Beauty shines from within... you will never lose that.
We love ya

a friend of mine went through chemo and radiation about 6 months ago and she lost her hair....she had long blonde hair....one of the things she was told before she had the chemo and radiation was to get her haircut short and to start wearing a baseball cap....you can do the baseball cap and wig ...whichever or both that you feel comfortable with...
