The way we hear and say I love you.
Love must be said to others in the way they hear love or they will never hear it. Many people try to love or say I love you to another in the way they hear or wish to hear and see love presented to them, but the other hears or sees it different and at times has no clue the other is giving love.
Unless my potential other will tell or list the way she hears or sees love, chances are I will feel I am telling or showing her love and she will not be seeing or understanding it. She may not care a lot about me taking care of her car, the lawn or helping in the house, and that may just be life and not saying love to her. I very likely do not care if she is much for cooking cleaning or a lot of the other things.. Women are often told it is the way to a mans heart, which is nonsense..
We should care enough for each other to discuss and understand what each of us hears or sees love. Life is not a guessing game, not a little secret, at least with our other. But instead learning to blend and care for each other, will help the other understand what is our shut down or deal breaker, as well as what is our enhancement point.
