I am the type of person I will give you the shirt off my back if you need it...recently, I was told I was crazy to still trust people enough to pick them up & take them where they needed to go...I believe that for every person I help I will be rewarded by god..now I am not saying I pick up every person but if i see a vehicle broke down & a person is walking from it i will stop..but i have noticed most people won't even do that..
So would you pick up a hitchhiker or stop to help someone?

Actually, it would depend on the situation - where, when, who it was - if I had a cell on me, etc...safety first. If nothing else, I can call 911 for the person and be on my way...

No to hitchhikers. As for someone needing help, it all depends on the situation. I do like to think that I help people most of the time.

I LOVE picking up hitchhikers and then fucking with them. We used to do it all the time and even had a few ask us to let them out right where we were. We had 1 girl we fucked with bad and we stopped for beer and when we came out she was gone

No to hitchhikers and maybe for the help thing. It's just so dangerous anymore.

Seems like the consensus is most of you would be afraid for your safety & i completely understand that glad though you would make a call, most people won't even do that..Thanks for the opinions guys...Tease...

I live in an area where there are 2 state prisons nearby and signs posted all over saying not to pick up hitchhikers.
But...if I notice a car broke down on the expressway and someone walking from it..I will stop and see if they need a lift to the nearest gas station.

This isn't a hitchiker incident, but it;s in a similar vein and made the Houston news a few days ago. A man is walking into a convenience store and is accosted in the parking lot. Robbers beat him up and take his wallet. He staggers inside after the incident and asks the clerk to call 911 for him. The clerk says, "I am sorry, but we are not allowed to use the store phone for personal calls. You must go outside and use the pay phone." Either the clerk was a total asshole or had no compassion for his fellow man. Perhaps even both.
I can recall other similar incidents. About 20 years ago, a young woman was jogging early in the morning near the State Capitol in Baton Rouge, LA. A man jumps out of the bushes, tears off all her clothes and rapes her. After the assault, she is wandering around totally nude in a state of shock. She comes across a man who happened to cross her path and she pleads for help. As it happens, he is black (as was the rapist) and she was white. He looks at her and says, "Lady, ain't no white jury gonna believe that a black man is gonna come across a naked white chick and save her." So, he, too proceeds to rape her once more and disappears into the dawn. Damn sick, if you ask me.
I con't pick up hitchhikers, but I won't leave someone obviously in trouble alone. A few year ago, I was driving along a dirt road in a state forest in Pennsylvania and came across a car stuck in a ditch. It had obviously just happened. The occupants were still in the car and were in the process of getting out. I could tell they weren't injured. "Can you help?" They asked. Not sure what I could do, they told me they had zero bars on their cell phone and asked me to drive up the mountain a few miles to see if I could get a signal and summon help. I immediately agreed and within a few minutes, I had contacted 911 and the State Police were on the way. I went back to the scene and waited until the cops arrived, then I headed out. I figured I had made the best choice; I minimized my personal involvement and the possibility of putting myself in danger, but I safely acted to aid these folks in need.
What would you have done? I've got another story that enfolded quite differently and if you are interested, I'll post that one too. Sorry folks, no sex in these tales, but sometimes it's important to discuss issues that transcend the physical.

I was driving home from work during a snow storm...I barely made out the outline of this car & a few feet up I saw a person walking...I stopped & picked her up, when she turned to thank me her face was black & blue all over, she had taken off in her husband's car he beat the living hell out of her she was running for her life she said....so as we were driving I had a minivan I told her to lay down where it was warm & i would take her to the nearest police station...just as she went to lay down she screamed, it was her husband out looking for her....I got her to the police dept. safely...So for me being a survivor of some brutal attacks & being on the receiving end of men like her husband..I will never not stop for a female..just can't do it.

I also would use my cell phone and call for help first.. To many times here in Ohio we have had people pretend to be broken down You pull up to see what is going on and their friend come out and well either they are there for your car or money....
Now on a hitch hiker depends on where I am at.. and what time of the day it is....

So would you pick up a hitchhiker or stop to help someone? Yes.....I use common sense and I never stop if I have any grandchildren with me...but I will still make a phone call if it appears they might need any help in the least..

In today's society? Have things changed that much or do we just have better communication - making it seem like there are more bad stories?
In the late 60's and early 70's I hitched rides all over my metro area, and did a few across multiple states. Never had any problems, personally, but bad things did happen. One angelic teenage girl I knew was hitching in California, got stabbed over 50 times, and crawled up onto a stranger's porch and died. Totally senseless evil. My best friend, a large 6 foot 7 inch man weighing 250 pounds, hitched cross-country to see me in 1973. Sid it was the last time - too dangerous.
