I googled for ya....
Believe me here... hair spray. does it everytime. let the dryer cool first. spray directly on the area. use paper towels to wipe away, you may need to do this a few times but it will work, there may be a faint tint on the walls of the dryer but this will not come off onto the next set of clothes you dry. after you wipe the ink away, you should wipe again with a clean wet ( with water) cloth. My teenage sons leave ink pens in their pockets constantly. I have done this many times. Hairspray will remove ink from almost anything! 0 Pts Rate Answer

Acetone will take it off, also makes super nail polish remover. Home depot $5.00. Put it on a rag, press the rag against the ink and hold for a few seconds then wipe off. Don't get it on any plastic parts, they will melt a little.

I would guess that bleach and a good detergent would do it, soak for awhile, scrub as much off as possible and then run the machine for a cycle or two.

Thanks everyone for your ideas, they were all great, and I think I've tried them all. I tried the hairspray, alcohol, softscrub, bleach and nothing actually took the marks off, but ran a load of towels through and nothing is coming off on them. So I guess even though the marks are still there I happy nothing is going on the clothes!!
Thanks Guys and Gals

I used to run a laundromat and dealt with this a lot.
There is an industrial product called Targo that cleaners use that will deal with it. It will even take permanent marker out of clothes. You have to leave it on overnight. It is made by A.L.Wilson Chemical Co., Kearny, NJ 07032. Ph: 800-526-1188. I still have a couple of bottles stashed away
For the dryer use Goof-Off from the harware store but to not use the dryer until ll the fumes have gone as it is a petroleum distilate.
For rust stains use hydroflouric acid just before you toss it in the washer. Any more than 10 minutes and it will eat the fabric.
For an effective home made "Spray n Wash" use 1 part Dawn dish soap, 1 part Ammonia and 2 parts water. Spray and leave at least an hour. Does not pull colors and gets out most mystery stains.
For grease and oil spray with WD40 as it is a water soluble oil letting it sit longer will get the stain out better
Cheers Judi

Just put paper in the drier and let it run. After a thousand cycles, Shakespear should come out.
