What are you getting your dad for Fathers Day Sunday? Growing up Fathers Day really didn't mean a lot to me only because my dad passed away at the young age of 23. I was only 2 at the time and really didn't get to know him. So while others honored that day, I never really did. But since Natasha (my daughter) came into my life back on Dec. 23, 2005 (her 17th birthday), the holiday now has a new meaning for me. I'm so thankful to be a dad.

My dad has been gone for 40 years and I haven't been to his gravesite maybe half dozen times. He isn't there....he's in my heart.
My ex-husband remarried and had 2 kids and pretty much forgot about the two we had. My late husband was more of a dad than he was. I use to remind my girls to get him a Father's Day card or a birthday card then one day I stopped it. If he can't stay in touch with his daughters then it's his loss.
It ended up like a "Mexican standoff"....they'd say..."well he doesn't write us" and he'd say..."well they don't write me"....and I just wanted to bang their heads together. One hasn't seen him for probably 10 years and the other saw him 3 years ago. My oldest has written him off and the bottom line is....they both feel their step-dad, my late husband was their dad.

My Dad passed away in 1991......I think of him everyday. My Ex-Hubby isn't in the picture, so I don't have to worry about buying a DEAD BEAT PARENT Gift to be from my daughter....Thank God, It would kill me to spend my hard earned money on a gift for him considering he has NEVER bought his Daughter anything!

Modern trends ease a difficult decision as my dad is a spry 87 YO and has pretty much everything, so a gift card from Lowes is the ticket.

My father passed away the day after my 21st birthday. He got lots or presents on Father's Day with 8 kids :) We still miss him. I have three daughters. The oldest's father passed away in October, last year. The younger ones will not be giving their father or paternal grandfather a card, even. Neither of them has acknowledged the girls in 8 years. Assholes, there -- like father, like son, so it's not surprising.

My Father didn't pay much attention to us as a kids, even when I lived with him. But we always got him something, despite the fact because he didn't pay child support to often. After my son was born I said to hell with him, I couldn't afford to get him anything and He pretty much ignored my son (his loss) so I have talked to him just a handful of times in the past 20 years and I dont go out of my way to try to change that. As I told him after years of trying, the road and telephone lines go both ways and i don't drive!

Since I have had kids I only get my dad a card...he gets upset with me if I buy him anything and the money could have been used on the girls...this is why they are spoiled...LOL
