It seems as if AMD has finally done something about all the spammers on here because I've noticed it's been really quite in the blog room and on this site in general.

I have seen no decrease in what I perceive to be spammers. I have seen a very noticeable decrease in blog posts and comments. As one of the "old hands" around here, it apparent that a large number of the experienced bloggers that knew how to write for their audience and had wordsmith skills have moved on. As a result there has been a significant decline in posts worth commenting on or even reading.

I can support this with a few statistics that I am quite certain the other "old hands" will confirm. A year ago the benchmark for a successful blog by a guy was 100 views and ten comments. If you clicked on view all new blogs, it would generally reveal all blogs posted in the past 24 hours. Six months ago that time frame had reduced down to around 14-16 hours.

A few minutes ago I clicked on view all new blogs. It revealed 20 blogs, the oldest being posted over 33 hours ago. Not one of these 20 blogs had 100 views.

It's nice that all the trouble makers are gone. But they took away about 60% of the blogging with them. A lot of blogger blog to get recognition of their blogs. If people view and don't respond then people are less inclined to blog again. So maybe if we start replying each others blogs more often we can stir up some business.

I agree with the first part of this quote. But I think the problem is not in people refraining from commenting on blogs as much as it is people posting things that are not worth commenting on. It has been noted on my part that if there is an interesting post, people will comment.

Go look at the blog offerings right now. Many are uninspired and/or boring in addition to frequently being poorly written. Plus, let's not ignore the parade of rerun jokes. That blog on the stimulus checks has been posted probably close to a dozen times this year, not to mention invading email inboxes weekly.

This blog might actually get a significant number of views and and comments. Not that my personal sentiments are any indicator, but it is the first that got my attention in the past two days.

Oh, here is a kudo for you. It may be a bit stale as they have been lying around for a while. I don't think I have given one out since March or April.

So I guess you'll have to blog about something else, since you seemed to be the most vocal about it.

Just talking true, honey, just talking true.

However, I must point out that in the case of my blogs, only one of about a dozen posted in May got over 100 views. The majority of my posts in April or before (excluding posts of jokes) exceed 100 views. It leads me to consider that perhaps the fewer the volume of interesting posts, the less frequently that people will look for blogs to read in general.

So I have a question for people. If you have been on this site for six months or more, do you read, post, or comment on blogs as much as you did six months ago? Why?

Well, six months ago,the gang was all here. But because of the Great AMD Exodus, only a few remain. Why bother?I mean sure,a performer still does his gig even if theres hardly anyone in the audience, but the audience gives off energy therefore encouraging the performer to give a solid show.Hardly a crowd, its only going to be a lackluster output.I want to blog, but no one seems to give a shit. This site is like my town in the summer:all the cool people left for vacation leaving the native yokels behind and its insufferable.

I think we have to take into account that spring is here, too- for many of the states, this means we can get the hell out of the house! Never mind life, in general, can "get in the way". I sign in every day but I've been out and about a lot and just don't spend the time online that I used to. I think that is probably the case with a lot of people and that will account for the lack of contributions and interaction.

As for the quality of blogs - yes, a lot of the good and creative bloggers left - and for good reason. Now I'm not sure if they will ever come back, and the one attempt to get some back was squashed (blog was deleted). Not much we can do but write our own blogs...

Incidentally - I do blog, just not as frequently...when I have time to write, I'll be sure to post!
