Hillary just won Puerto Rico today 68% to 32%. She won by 141,000 votes today. There is talk that if Hillary gets in the oval house this Jan. that by the end of her term Puerto Rico will most likely be the 51st state. Should Puerto Rico become a state? My person opinion, why not, we own that island, and they do vote down there, so I say sure, I wouldn't have a problem with it becoming a state.

Also, do you think Hillary actually has the popular votes, and if so shouldn't the super delegates vote for her to run against McCain this November?

Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgian Islands, Marianas Islands, America Samoan Islands and Midway should all be states in my mind. The first five all have area codes, why not make them states.

Of course Puerto Rico should become the 51st state...then that means we're only 6 more away from the 57 Obama says we have.

sorry..couldn't resist that one.

Way I see it....they participate in our elections, we "own" the island...so, why not? As for the popular vote issue, I don't know. Obama has a sizeable lead in delegates, and he didn't get them just handed to him...he got the votes to get them. All I've got to say is I'm glad I'm not one of those super delegates....cause no matter which way they vote...one side is going to be mad.

I think it should be a state heck they have been in the union for a long time and it should happen.. I also think Hill is getting the shaft.. I know there are a lot of Obama supporters but I am not one of them.. One because she has been shafted from the beginning two I really do not want a racist hate listener in the Whitehouse, three do you or anyone else know much about Obama?

I think McCain will be the next in the whitehouse depending on who his running mate is. Only because so many are disenchanted with how this whole thing again has been handled and many Hill supporters are going to cross the lines and vote republican for the first time in their lives..

as for me I am not sure I know I will not vote for Obama so it may be that this is the first election I will not vote in in all my years of voting and I have been voting since 1980..

I agree with you. I think Hillary has gotten the shaft during the last four months. The very liberal media (MSNBC and NBC) hype building Obama up. If the Democrats had the right system like the winner take all in most if not all states Hillary would have won this back in March or April already. I do think that she has a better chance of beating McCain more than Obama does, but either way, the Democrats are still going to lose when it's all said and done.

You're right about most people still don't know a whole lot about Obama. Take the two revs. he's associated himself with over the past 20 years that's made news as of late. Obama has been given a free pass all this time, especially from MSNBC. I would like to see the best fighter when this race between Obama and Hillary, and I think Hillary showed that she has it over him.

Well, lets consider something else about states - Washington D.C isn't a state, it's just a district. With all the people that live there, I wonder, do they pay state taxes? How about income taxes? Property taxes? Why can't it be a state before someplace else as it is considered part of the US where the Federal laws are made? Just an observation.

Washington D.C isn't a state,
It wasn't designed or meant to be a state, just the nation's capital. I would say that people who live there only pay federal tax I would think.

You may have no problem with it...but the residents do.....why should they leave a banquet for a McDonalds?......

Not for us to decide, but them. FYI.....Puerto Rico has voted a couple times on being a state and turned it down each time. But hey, Hillary won't let that stop her from pledging to make them eligible for all sorts of entitlement programs........ that they don't contribute to.
Get your wallets out, folks......... Hillary needs you. Well, not exactly you...... just your $$$$$

Slohand is absolutely right. Puerto Rico has constantly turned down statehood many times in referendums for decades, preferring to remain a territory. No offense people, but ignorance shows with many of the comments that are not based upon factual knowledge.
