**************************** This is a special alert..... As many of you know that it's the first of the month, an you all know what that means, right? That's right, welfare is out today. Don't get me wrong, I know some people can't help it by having it, and my beef isn't with these people. It's with those young people who refuse to work and has a spouse/lover along with what kids they have who start shit in a neighborhood with fighting with other no good for nothing trash ass people who live off all taxpayers. I saw some of this late this afternoon across the street from me. It's always the same loser people who are so stupid where they can't stay out of trouble even if their lives depended on it. They have way too much time on their hands. Let's see now, the police had been called twice now, and yet nothing seems to get done. What, the police can't take any of them off to jail for the weekend. Looks like the guys were fighting out there with one another with words, but listening to the scanner after it was all over with the police stated it was the women that were into it. I know women are mouthy and all, but why not take them all to jail! Any of you have this type of problem where you live? If so let's hear the recent and/or current drama going on around where you live.

gezz that sucks Straddle. No just sitting out on the porch to watch the cuties walk on by I guess.

I know here in Chicago there is allot of that going on. I live across the street from the park. The gang bangers are playing basketball, the old ladies are sitting on benches ( probably discussing the latest way to stop constipation) the little ones are running around the playground screaming and laughing. Another typical day in Jacquesland.

But they are staying out of trouble and not disturbing people around them, right?

We just moved into this new neighborhood last April and it's been wonderful. The one trouble making family just moved out at the beginning of this year. As for the old neighborhood, which is only a half a mile away, that's another story.

It's wierd. You can literally walk down the street and by the school is a path to the old neighborhood. The path leads to the street we used to live on and the two neighborhoods are like night and day.

The list of stories from the old neighborhood could fill a library. From gang threats to FBI drug bust to a SWAT team attack all within 200' of our old duplex.

Thanks for reminding me.....
That means they'll all be at the grocery spending the entirety
of their food stamps, stocking up on enormous amounts of
food for the entire month......
Think I'll wait to go to the grocery store...

Oh yeah, I went a few days ago before all hell would break out this weekend. Shelves are probably almost empty, and meat all gone most likely.

LOL I know what you mean.. I am in a quiet neighborhood right now but I will be leaving here in a couple of weeks to go to my house in Lubbock where the kind of drama you talk about is alive and well.. I hope I can sell that house cause I sure do not want to go back there ever to live for any length of time.. summer before last I was sitting on the porch and two thugs were across the street there had been fighting the night before and that night while I was sitting there the two pulled out their guns banged on the door and bam bam bam bam.. scared the shit out of me. Later that week same guys opened fire on a police car with the policeman inside shot something like 13 times missed the poor guy inside and ended up in jail. Last summer I was supenoed two times to testify in court both times the thing was called off.. I then moved here where I am at. My daughter texted me this morning telling me that now next door some more trash moved in.. Freak shit i really do hope I can sell my house... But I am unsure cause the neighborhood has come crashing down, down, down. I hate slum lords and how they will rent to any trash that comes along bringing property values down with them...

Neighbor who moved into the duplex across the street from my house is not a very good mother...her youngest, who looks to be about 1 1/2 to 2 years old is always in the road playing....I know it's a side street..but there is an apartment building at the end of the road and the residents there usually fly up the road. Cops have been out to talk to her a few times already....nothing gets done. I have to literally idle up to my damn house so as to not hit this kid...just the other day when I was coming home from the store..he was on his little bike by the side of the road, watched me coming up the road, and just before I got up to my driveway..rode his damn bike right out in front of my truck! I try to mind my own business..but that was the last straw, I called child protective services...kid is still there. What the hell does it take? She doesn't watch her kids, they're always all over the place...house next door to them is up for sale, and her kids are tearing up the yard over there..it's ridiculous.

Thankfully our neighborhood has been decent so far. Most of the houses are not more than 5 years old. We do have a few families that seem to have a few more tenants than usual, but, they're all hard workers. Before I got this house, though, the apartment we lived in was in low income housing. I saw that shit going on almost daily. I spent more time taking my kids away all day and double locking and checking the doors and windows twice. Glad we got out of there.

Well we have criminal fowl here on the island.

I was reading in the local papers Police Blotter the folowing 2 bulletins:-

Called out at 2.15am for domestic ducks that got loose.

Called out at 3.18am for complaint of neighbors roosters crowing all night. Owners advised to cover cages after 11pm.

oh and....

A call was received about a door left open at a business on Mill Bay Rd. Officer shut the door and left note for owner.

I tell ya it's a crimewave.

Bruce, if I didn't know better I would think that you're being a jerk right now.

Your answer which I really don't think I owe you one would be I was raised in this house and I never wanted to part with it. When I was 5 I moved into this house with my mom and sister and grew up in a pretty good neighborhood with good stable homes for the most part with some elderly people who had their houses for so long. Over time those elderly people passed on and their houses were eventually bought up by slumlords who started renting to undesirables. Over the last 10-20 years the problem got worse. It seems to clear up here and there over a period of time when some renters move in that aren't that bad, than once they leave in no time it comes back to more slime here and there. Matter of fact I believe we talked about this over the phone once not too long ago and understood where I was coming from. Yeah, I'm one of the few that's left in the neighborhood, and I do keep my property up regardless of the idiots around me, and the fact that they lower my house value....but I still don't plan on selling my house. If I do decide to leave and move out west to be with Kim and I know house will be taken care of, so I'm not worried about that.

we live in a usually quiet kinda street,we bought our house about 8 yrs ago, since then a single mother has bought the place next door 2 yrs ago,she works shift work,so i try to limit our noise out of consideration, but over the last 6 or 8 mths she has been dating a guy and staying at his place on week-ends,and leaves the 15 yr old teenager home to his own devises, which usually means under-age drinking with his mates, out the front at 2 & 3 am which is wearing extremely thin when I have to get up for work at 5 am. the cops drive by and they disappear til they leave, we've already had words a few times, and it seems to work for a couple of weeks and then they are back again.
might be time to start making a racket with my trucks when they are trying to sleep
most ppl around here are pretty good, but i guess there is always gonna be one huh.

Damn and i bitch about my redneck neighbors, now i feel thankful for having them. They get loud at times and are not playing with a full deck but for the most part it is peaceful....

Good neighborhoods go bad and once they do, they stay that way until they are bulldozed.

My ex wife's cousin was raised by his grandparents (not related to my ex) and he inherited their house. The house had a legacy similar to the one you describe. He was known to have said on several occasions that he would spend the rest of his life there after he inherited it. He did. After numerous break ins into the house and car, he was murdered in a robbery walking home from a convenience store.

I would never consider living in a place where you can watch Cops on your front porch in addition to TV.

I have lived in my home 22 years and the only crime you ever see is speeders and somebody's dog being walked pooping on the parkway and the owner not picking it up.

What a coincident that you posted this now. I moved in here a year ago today. A friend of a friend owns this house and I was in AZ desperate to come home and needed a place to live...this was it.

I've long heard the big house that I look at outside my window as I sit here is a drug house...although this is far from a "bad or rundown" neighborhood.

Nor have I figured out just who all lives there....but I do know it's Mexicans....and they have this huge pitbull... They are all a fairly quiet bunch with the exception of the incessant vehicles coming and going....I feel like I live next to a business and maybe I do. Although I can see them during the many hours I spend at my computer I am pretty oblivious to their activity. A few days ago another neighbor tells me the police have been there a couple of times pounding on the upstairs apartment door...news to me...I didn't see anything.

But here is my problem. The main guy who lives there....and seems as nice and polite as can be....came over last fall telling me he's diabetic and needs some soda to bring his blood sugar level up and he's out....do I have some? No, but I had orange juice which I readily gave him...no problem. I'm more than willing to help with something like that.

So Friday night, kinda late he knocks on my door again....this time he's outta cigarettes and he'd left his wallet in his car which his brother drove to work....could he have a couple of cigarettes. I kinda saw a pattern developing here and besides...I was struggling to keep myself in cigarettes being on a fixed income. I managed to work up the nerve to say "no" and why. His parting words were.."hey if you ever need cigarettes, just knock on my door and I'll gladly give them to you".... I hate it when someone puts a guilt trip on me!!

Now then....Saturday afternoon I'm sitting here when I hear a strange noise and go investigate. Imagine my surprise when I stepped into my bedroom and saw the face of a little girl pasted against my window looking in....she saw my cat in the window....which promptly flew the coop and she was trying to get her to come back!

I admonished her nicely...but firmly then sought out the guy next door...and her mom...the gal and her kid doesn't live there...well I don't think...no I'm sure they don't and told them what happened and said I'm really not a bitch but I can be. I understood that she didn't know any better but please keep kids away from my house.....after all, that was my bedroom and I coulda been naked. (fat chance of that though....that even scares ME... )

So now I'm hoping like hell I'm not on their shit list...that's a little scary. And I'm hoping he has figured out I'm not the neighborhood handout.

I live on the northern edge of the OSU campus area, and there are a SHITLOAD of troublemakers out there. Almost all of them are on welfare, but the "rich mommy and daddy" type, not the government type. It's all the same if you ask me. They like to get loaded on Natty Light (however the hell they manage to do that is beyond me- scotch drinker here ) and throw the cans at passing cars. It's not even football season and I can hear them right now. They all come from small towns and suburbs where everyone has plenty of space and if you're rich, people automatically suck up to you. So now that they're here in a more working-class neighborhood for 4 years, they don't know how to behave, so they often turn violent. Those of us who grew up here and live here (townies, as they refer to us) have basically learned that the best way to deal with them is to be armed- they rarely know how to handle blade or handgun.

About six months ago, the kids who live in the building accross the alley from me were having a big party, when my neighbor was driving through. They surrounded his car and started rocking it back and forth. He got out and started yelling at them to leave his car alone, and they started threatening him if he didn't get back in the car. He immediately pulled out his baretta subcompact and let out two straight up into the air and the kids scattered. But less than two weeks later they were at it again.

Proof that college kills brain cells, and yet I still go.

We don't really have that problem here in our neighborhood. I feel you though, I lived in a neighborhood that was some what similar and the shit get real old real quick!
