I had my son when I was seventeen. When I learned I was pregnant with him I worked really hard to earn more credits then required for the semester, so that I could take the first semester of my senior year off seeing as he was due August 9th. Come second semester I went back to school to finish my diploma on time. Well I had my son in a daycare facility while I went to school during the day, this was working out pretty well until about a month after he started daycare. My son was starting to get sick on a weekly basis and the school wasn't getting the messages to me. So I decided that I would finish my high school diploma when my son was older and in school. Last year, I decided that it was time to go back to school. Now my problem was that I had 18 credits in high school, I only needed 4 more to go and I wanted my actual diploma. I had worked way to hard not to finish it. Well I searched for a way to go back and get my diploma. To my disappointment, I couldn't find anything. So, I decided that I would go and get my HSED. I was not happy about it, but I needed that to be able to pursue my goals of going to college. I called our technical college here and set up an appointment to start the testing process. I got there took the test and was informed that I could join a program to get my actual high school diploma. I was fucking ecstatic!! They informed me that it was more time consuming then just testing for the HSED, that I would have to do research work, meet with my assessor once a week, complete assignments and much more. I didn't care I wanted my damn diploma! It took me nine months and I finally did it... I graduate June 10th and then off to college we go! It feels so unbelievably good to prove all those assholes that told me I wouldn't and couldn't do it wrong! I want to print the shit in the newspaper, with a picture of my middle finger and tell them to sit and spin! In loving memory of my Mother!

That's just proof that the only one you should let tell you what your capable of is yourself. There's nothing you can't accomplish if you want it enough.
Congrats!!

Congratulations! I am pleased that you have accomplished a goal you have worked so hard for. It can sometimes take a while for these life goals to be completed - I've been going to college since my sophomore year in high school - and I graduate in the Fall... it's been a long time coming.
I wish you the best of luck with college - and congratulations once again!

Good for you, Megan! By the time your HS 10th reunion comes around, you won't need an announcement. Walking in there will be "The announcement." Megan? That's Megan??? Wow!
Go ahead, celebrate and have that party too!
