was at the bank today and as soon as i walked through the front doors i saw it was jam packed...line going all the way to the door to walk in.....so, there i am standing there not really thinking....watching each customer go up to the counter and get there cash check cashed or deposited....bank teller starts asking for id and the gentleman which is prolly in his 70's or 80's starts saying id? i don't have an id...she restates herself and says i need your drivers license....oh, oh, i have that he says....so, there i am standing in line still.... got about 20 or 30 people in front of me...when i start to notice 99% of the line is people that are in between 65 and 85 yrs old at least.....i was like holy shit....what's going on here? took me about 5 minutes then i realized it was May 1st....getting that check at the first of the month....so, it went on like this with the bank teller having to talk loudly and repeat herself to almost everyone of them about something another....i stood there and thought to myself...hmm...this is what i get to look forward to when i get that age....then another thought came to me....well, knowing my family history i won't make it to retirement so i got nothing to worry about....also while i was in town i was looking at every gas station i drove by which is prolly about 30 gas stations at least....cheapest gas station is race trac...$3.56 a gallon....highest i saw was $3.69 a gallon at another gas station....oh and everyone of the retired people in the bank was wearing shorts and shirt all snappy lookin as if they just came off playin golf....and getting ready to head back out to play some more.....

Good for them, we won't see those days...most of the generations after me don't know how to work or care to...the old days are gone and the work ethic is too!

You poor man. I am not that far from a social security check. But I was thinking and you know, I don't think I have ever seen anybody that appeared to be over 70 use an ATM machine.

What I hate is when they write a check in the grocery store and it takes them five minutes to get their ID out. Who the hell writes checks anymore? I write typically one check per year, for the license plates for the car.

i agree....i don't use checks....use my atm card for everything....fast and easy...i guest that's kinda the point i was looking at about the bank today....they should have a seperate line for seniors cashing or depositing there check they get every 1st of the month....it's a lot different for people here in Florida than other parts of the country....Florida is retirement capital of the united states...nothing really bothers me though accept for today...guess it was just one of those days...was hot outside and i was miserable before i even got to the bank....came home and jumped in the shower and i feel 100% better now....just need to take a nap....

My paycheck is direct deposit...I had my state and federal tax refunds direct deposit..I have my ATM/Debit card...and I pay most of my bills electronically. The only time I was in my bank was to open my accounts.

it takes them five minutes to get their ID out

When in a rush but having to wait, sometimes the thought crosses my mind if it would be faster for me to offer to pay so that the rest of the line could keep moving. I'm not quit that well off however I'm sure it would rack up some good karma from helping everyone out.

Naturally, if you switch lines to avoid such a fiasco then it'll take you twice as long to get through. Murphy is always watching.
