For other uses, see Plagiarism (disambiguation).
Plagiarism is the practice of claiming or implying original authorship of (or incorporating material from) someone else's written or creative work, in whole or in part, into one's own without adequate acknowledgement. Unlike cases of forgery, in which the authenticity of the writing, document, or some other kind of object itself is in question, plagiarism is concerned with the issue of false attribution.

I bet Robert Fulgham would think so too!

All I Really Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten is a book of short essays by Robert Fulghum, first published in 1986.

The title of the book is taken from the first essay in the volume, in which Fulghum lists lessons normally learned in American kindergarten classrooms and explains how the world would be improved if adults adhered to the same basic rules as children, i.e. sharing, being kind to one another, cleaning up after themselves, and living "a balanced life" of work, play, and learning.

My first college course was a writing course, and the first important rule of writing is to never plagiarize. Quoting a source is not only fair, it's the law.

To get even more specific, any quote should be surrounded by quotation marks ---> " and " - When a full quote is not being used, three periods (w/o spaces) is used to signify that it is a partial quote. Just wanted to pass that on. :)

But I love it when someone admits that they are acting like a five year old!!

I have made the attempt, on each occasion, to credits others for their fine work....whether that be in words, lyrics, music, et al.
It is the author and/or musician deserving of the accolades for their work...not me.

Too bad this topic seems to continually arise here @ AMD.

This is amongst the numerous reasons that I am making the choice to leave this place upon the conclusion of my Gold membership.

It is my wish that the new regime will return sanity, fairness, and decency to this place. That it will arise anew to become an enjoyable, entertaining, and yes, adult playground that ALL may wish to return to numerous times.

So be it, I am stepping off my soapbox now, and, please return to your interaction with a sense of decorum and kindness. You do not have to like each other, but, at the very least attempt to "do right' by each other.

if plagiarism is an ugly word,
would you prefer stealing?

That is a good way of putting, do not state the obvious, because some people will become offended and feel the need to take action.

Sorry, MamMan, but you have it backwards:
Too bad too many people at this site steal and/or justify it,
thus causing the "topic" to "arise."

Been there and accidentally done that, don't want to go there again........Good information to have though!

No, I would disagree. I stand by my statement.

Too bad that after the vast occasions that someone has done this act, and, the few opportunities that someone has "chastised" the perpetrator for the continues to happen.

Therefore, I realize that I will lumped into the "them" category and be ostracized. So be it, I feel that I have earned the right to express my opinions in an open forum. Especially, when I make every attempt to not do so in neither a condescending nor antagonistic manner.

Now, if another chooses to "go there", I have no difficulty in engaging them in whatever way they may desire.

Val, too bad that you got caught up in the mess last time. I hope that all parties involved have learned that this can be handled in a more reasonable manner.

All my blogs were stolen from my brother Nordy...he actually wears the panties in the family.

Just kidding ......

Apr 22 @ 7:02PM
I didn't even see this, and I had the same thought.

Apr 22 @ 7:30PM
That's why I don't write very much. I read therefore I learn there for I can be accused of such things.

But you made a very valid point, and stealing is an easier word to spell

Apr 22 @ 7:40PM

Thank you all for your comments. It just really pisses me off when someone copies and pastes something and doesn't give credit to the author. Especially if it's something as well known as what was posted this afternoon by another member. I don't care what anyone copies and pastes, just give credit where credit is due.
