I am currently conducting a snake hunt....Yes....A real, true to life hunt ...not for just any snake...but for a particular one...
As best as we can determine, the snake is a Eastern Diamondback...with a crainial width of 2 to 3 inches, a fang spread of 1 and 1/2 inches, and an estimated length of 6 to 8 feet.
Yeah, I know....They aren't supposed to be bigger than 4 to 5 feet....but this one is...
How do I know?.....A friend of my son was bitten last week, while we were working out in my yard, in an area we were all moving around in...since he was underneath a trailer, no one got a look at him, but he managed to strike my son's friend twice in the hand...
We immediately took him to the hospital, where he stayed for a week, and received 21 (yes, i said 21) vials of anti-venem....He's ok now, but still lots of swelling.
I have 10 acres to search...and I will leave no stone unturned (literally) until this snake is found. The estimated size is based on the bite marks, as measured by the "Experts" who are required to track incidents of this nature.
Wish me luck, and when I find him, I'll try to post pictures so all can see....

wow sorry to hear the kid got bitten but glad he is doin ok I know a guy in NYS who is a herpetologist and I would love for him to see the snake pics when you get him, but he wont be happy to see pics of the snake dead though. try not to kill it, and call the state to come get it I know that most rattle snakes are protected. so dont post pics of it dead I wouldnt want to see you get in trouble over it

Hunt him down at night. They do most of their hunting at night. Use a flashlight, their eyes will glow yellow. Much easier to find at night. Take a long stick to pin it down with. Best thing to do is turn it over to the state, they take them and milk them for antivenom, that is what saved your child. Oh by the way, I used to hunt them in Arizona.

Night hunting works well in open areas....I am not so blessed....lots of brush, long grass, outbuildings, and equipment....no, thank you, I'll stick to early morning while it's still cool enough to slow him down...as far as the State is concerned, Their recommendation is to locate and exterminate.
