Well. Normally I'm a man of few words, and originally came to this site for a quick "hook up," after a failed marriage--not for an exchange in blogs, or to take sides in a bicker fest. However, when in Rome..... I can identify with the dilemma of the present moderator, as I had a dying website fall into my lap at one time for safe keeping, while the owner took refuge from.. well...who knows?!? I've witnessed the backstabbing, spamming, name calling, and all the other vitriolic occurrances that go along with long distance cyber- aggression. I've had to deal with this human element of automation as best I could, with admittedly mixed results. Thus, I can easily identify with our current moderator. I've also found how easy it is to become preoccupied and consumed with the artificial world viewed on the glowing screen. Instead of job hunting, paying bills, maintaining friendships, etc., I became all too consumed in the acquaintances made at my old site. And, I'm sorry to say, I can partially attribute my failed marriage to that. Remember that book called "The Book of Lists"? As I paged through it, I was surprised at how many events throughout history were influenced by emotion and ego, and how so few events were logically and thoroughly planned. (Some of Napolean's actions, as well as Hitler's, come to mind...) The course of history was greatly affected by the impulsive, emotional actions of those who made the decisions and influenced the masses. What have I learned? WELLL....... 1) We ALL have problems; 2) We ALL must find resolutions, or coping mechanisms, for OUR individual situations; 3) It is counterproductive to wage a verbal war out of personal rage, when only we, OURSELVES, know why we are REALLY angry. And finally, 4) Choosing up sides guarantees confrontation. Until now I've avoided making any comment whatsoever about this situation, choosing instead to wade through the blather and search out the innocuous porn-laced blogs. I'm afraid that this little extended note will merely serve to throw me into the fray, but the alternative is to drop off the site, like so many others. Oh well...damned if you do....etc.... I hope that you will all forgive me for entering the storm. In short, it seems to me that the easiest solution is to attempt, at least, tolerence of each other. Attempting to grab the last word EVERY TIME will surely exacerbate the problem.
Oh, by the way...You know that old website that I was so fond of? Well, I still look in on it, twice a day. I spend over an hour a day killing spam, with no productive interaction of the old, regular members. And, ironiclly, all of the posting turns out to be...ads for PORN SITES!!!! That's the future of Pervia, should levelheadedness be only a last resort!
