Just wanted to find out what the most popular sport is in the world. So if you have a number one favrite sport I would like to know what it is and why you like it. My favrite sport would have to be Baketball. I have been watching it my whole life and I am just facinated by the different athletes that play it. I am a huge Washington Wizards fan. I have been since back in the day when they were the Washington Bullets. Plus I like fast paced sports like basketball.

on tv it has to be football. has to be hockey. Nothing better than a live hockey game.

My favorite sport is what the world calls Football but we call Soccer. Nothing like it, once you learn the rules.

I'm not really into sports much, but I guess my favorite would have to be pro boxing. Not really sure why, 'cause I really don't see the point in grown men beating each other up, even in situations where there isn't a referee (lol) ...but I guess it's the fact that the men are pitted up against each other and aren't relying on teammates to carry them through.

It's either a "me or him" situation and it takes a lot of stamina and skill, I would imagine, to literally "go the distance."

Evander Holyfield has always been one of my favorites, not just because of his boxing, but because he seems to be a gentleman outside of the ring.

Oh, and Oscar De La Hoya because he's just hotter n' holy hell!

On the other hand, someone who would take a bite out of someone else is not exactly "playing nice" and doesn't have any business in any sport of any kind, IMO. Neither does anyone who is involved (directly or indirectly) in murders (one of "our own," in fact) or drugs etc., etc.

Most popular sport in the world? No brainer, soccer. Oh, this is funny. They are holding part of the Olympic soccer matches in Tampa. The Cuban team arrived with 16 players. They only were able to suit nine for Thursday match because seven defected.

I did a blog on a Harris survey for the most popular sports to watch on TV in America. They segmented along some lines not the sport overall. As I recall the results were as follows:
1. NFL
2. College football
3. Major league baseball
4. College basketball
5. Nascar
6. NBA

I am stoked now as we are on the threshold of March Madness, the NCAA tourney. Nothing packs as much excitement to me. I like the NBA, but like hockey, the post season is so long that I don't watch it generally until the playoffs. Sixteen teams getting into the playoffs makes the regular season an almost a pointless 84 game grind.

My favorite sports would be football first, baseball second, basketball third.

Mine is basketball as well, but I play( or used to!) tennis, football, volleyball, softball, hell I just like sports!! I play basketball the best, and am a serious Carolina Tarheels fan.

Same damn thing I was thinking/wondering!

Now back on the topic of the blog...I have to go with football, then baseball, and lastly basketball...oh and NASCAR, but some don't think of that as really being a sport.

Anyhow, I love football, and it might have something to do with the fact that I played in high school. In fact, I was a pretty damn good WR...and in my Sophomore year I had some college recruiters as well as NFL football scouts coming to the games to watch me play...

Sadly it all ended in the 6th game of the season...while running towards the end zone on my way to a 66 yard TD catch...right at the last second I was hit from behind, side of the knee...and...POP!!

And there went all of my pro football dreams...and even though it wasn't a cheap shot and the guy who hit me didn't mean to blow out my knee and so on...he felt horrible for what had happened, but for a few weeks needless to say I was quite pissed at him...but now we're pretty good friends. And I realize...shit happens.

Anyhow, I'm a life-time Packers fan in football, a New York Yankees fan in baseball, and a Chicago Bulls fan in basketball...and NO, I'm not one of those bandwagon fans who jumped on the bandwagon when the Bulls won all those championships with Jordan, nor am I a Yankees fan simply because of all their championships...the fact is I suffered thru many years with the Bulls when they are losers, as well as with the Yankees.

I simply became a Yankees fan because when I started watching the game and got into the game...Milwaukee/Wisconsin didn't have a pro team. And as far as the Bulls...I was a Bucks fan until they let Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) I hated the Bucks for doing so, and became a Bulls fan...and have been ever since.
