 My daughter Natasha got through calling me about 30 minutes ago. She's currently in the hospital at a level 3, soon to be level 4. They're going to induce her labor later tonight through the early morning hours. Her stress levels are high so they want to start this as soon as possible. Other than that everything is looking good. She wants me to come up there tomorrow, but me having a real bad cold that I'm now starting to get over I think it would be best to wait until I got rid of it all together. You guys that are on my friends list know I have had a bad week with the cold since last Saturday. I just don't want to risk the baby's health by doing this. Her mom and aunts is currently up there with her. So, I just wanted you all to know that she's very close now. By noon I'm sure she will have had her child. She has gained 18lbs. all together now and doing great! I'll continue keeping you guys posted through Friday when I know more.

This is your 1st Grandchild isnt it?
I myself would call and Make sure she understands about the Cold thingy, But I would be there!!!
Maybe from a Distance.(Maybe get a gown, mask, gloves, to help contain the germs).but I would be there!!!
We are born only Once, and in her case.. give birth: you being there would mean everything to your Daughter!!! Ya think?

I was too excited for her earlier tonight that I failed to mention that I had a cold to her. If I'm not any better tomorrow I'm sure she will understand the risk involved.
Btw, Grandpa sounds too damn old, just call me anything else other than that.

The birth of your first grandchild is so special and only happens once. You need to go. tell the nurse about your cold and they will take all the care that is needed.

Shawn, this is a once in a lifetime thing..Your very first grand child..so I say this lovingly..
GET YOUR ASS TO THAT HOSPITAL!!! 
They will give you a mask and protect her and the baby.. If you are even still contagious.
Don't miss this Shawn, I'm telling you there is Nothing in the world quite like it.. nothng.
What you are called, is up to you, for now..that baby will give you your name when they are old enough to talk.. and you will love it, even if it is Grandpa..
Now, go see a baby, sweetie. Don't miss out on this, Shawn.

Congrats to you!!!! Yes it would be great if you could be there with her...my mom was in delivery room with both my kids and my dad waited in waiting room. But with your cold I doubt they would let you in, at least that is how they are up here in good old Marysville Ohio. Better for mom and baby to not have the germs
So congrats to you and will be watching for the posting of the birth!!!!

Shawn, they will make you scrub up with betadine and wear a mask, gown and gloves.. but go.. you will never regret going.. you might regret not.

Thank you all for all the very warm wishes. Natasha and I talked about this a few months ago. She said that she was only going to have Willie and her aunt in the delivery room with her when it came time to have the baby. I understood where she was coming from. Had she wanted me there I would have been right there in that room. I'm fine with her decision, she just didn't want too much of a crowd staring at her private area. lol She was very very tired last night when she had called me and she was wanting to try to get some sleep before the big event.
