Whenever your daughter has flamming red streaks in her hair and you tell her that you like it and think it's pretty cool, she goes and gets rid of the punk hair. haha She did this earlier this year. Her having a tongue ring and me hating that and telling her I hate it she still has it. Maybe I should have used some reversed psychology and told her that I hate the tongue ring, maybe she would have parted with that instead of the cool punk hair style she had. lol

HA! I'm not giving up. If there's a will there's a way, and I plan on finding a way and winning. That's if I don't go nuts first.

Eventually they turn into people and your first mistake is thinking that your opinion matters...(your thoughts on the hair had no bearing on the change)

Oh, how I can relate! And I did try SO hard...but yeah, I lost. At some point, parents have to acknowledge that we are no longer in control of our kids. I lost the pants around the knees fight, the tongue ring battle, the shaved head argument, and the painted-on-pants struggle. I give! But think about it - did you ever dress, behave, listen to music, hang out with people your parents didn't approve of? I know I did...grrrrr!

Okay, I'll give you guys that about when we were younger we didn't want to dress like our parents, have the same interests in things, and were mostly embarassed by them growing up. But by her having not known me growing up until she hit 17 years old I'm hoping just maybe she doesn't think of wanting to be all that different than what I am and I can rub off on her in a positive way. She is very difficult to get along with and she recently quit her job because she doesn't like being bossed around by anyone, not even her own boss at work. She doesn't like house rules anywhere and that's why she's living right now with a friend from high school with that girl's parents instead of living with her aunt like she has the last three years. She is a handful, and I know that she's thought about coming and leaving here with me, but that's if the test show positive. I worry about that because I live in a Jerry Springer neighborhood and I can just see her hanging out with these undesirables here on this block, and I hate to see that happen. Don't get me wrong, she will always have a place here to stay if she needs to, she's just going to have to try to follow house rules.
