**WARNING** This blog is NOT light and fluffy. It WILL be disagreed with! If you CANNOT handle good ole debate, then leave this blog now!!!

WTF??????? Almost two years ago I wrote a blog about whether a teacher should be able to have a life outside of school that should not be judged. Me being a teacher say YES, but many people said that ANY leader of the community (teacher, doctor, police, lawyer etc) should have eyes on them at ALL times.

Then I turn on the news, and find out that Eliot Spitzer was caught setting up a rendevous with a prostitute..... I say big fucking deal! He was just unwinding after a long day at the office. But... yup..... his name is shit now, and his career will suffer from here on out.

I just don't get it! Is he not human? Is he not suppose to think about sex or have sexual fantasies?

Yeah, yeah.... I get the part about him where he is married, and has three daughters who look up to him etc. I have kids too, and some day they are going to find out about the lifestyle that I lead, but I can't imagine that they will love me any less because of it, or will become less of worthy citizens because of it.

I realize that the people of NY voted him into office because of who they thought he was, and based on his credentials and background..... but for GOD SAKES...... haven't we ALL fucked up at one time or another in our lives??

We all pay the price when we fuck up, but "normal" citizens just lose a boyfriend or girlfriend, or pay a fine to the court etc, but someone in Spitzers position will pay for the rest of his life! How is that fair?

Why should leaders of the community be judged so much more than Joe Fucking Shmoe who lives down the street?

GgggRRRrrrr.... Yes..... it pisses me off!

I agree ...but, "we" like pointing the finger at people in high places and telling them its wrong.......

But, I completely agree We are all human and we all make mistakes.

I agree with you hopon, but as we all know, people in "higher" positions , for lack of a better term, are held to a higher standard. Is it fair? Nope, but ya can't change it....
Sunshinegal35

Mar 10 @ 7:07PM
Sure it's not fair-
however, people who sign on for the "spotlight" have to know that they will be more closely scrutinized than Joe Fucking Schmoe (I love this, by the way!) who lives down the street.
It always amazes me that even with all the bells and whistles at politicians' disposal, they still manage to get caught.....DUH!

The problem with Eliot Spitzer is as governor of NY, he had a reputation for being tough on prostitution and prostitution rings, so he's a bit of a hypocrite. Practice what you preach of get off of the soap box I say!

Mar 10 @ 7:19PM
Sure,BFD,If he was not such ruthless shmuck, and shameless hypoctite who played that same card against other's...Seems like bad karma coming to bite him in the arse...
sundance64

Mar 10 @ 7:21PM
That's the only problem I have with this thing...the fact that he is a hypocrite. He made such a huge deal about busting the prostitution rings...and then gets caught!

All comments so far pretty much sum up my take on it. I get pissed only when people of "moral authority" do things like this. I HATE double standards.

Then again, I'm not the person to say because I don't give a happy fuck about Brittany, Jennifer, Brad & Angelina or any other celebrities that you see in magazines or on TV. You can't get away from that shit and I find it mindless.

I heard he was a chief prosecutor for the state, think I heard he was the Attorney General before becoming Governor. He was prosecuting those kinds of businesses as part of his job. Being Governor, there are many wanting to take him down something like this usually works.
Anyone remember the Heidi Fleisch case? She operated a prostitution business in Hollywood California a few years ago, and served prison time for tax evasion and running an illegal house of prostitution. I don't think any of the customers were prosecuted.

Everyone is absolutely correct...what people who are in the lime light do is none of our business...yes, people make mistakes...but as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else who are we to judge...No he shouldn't have been a hypocrite, but then again no one is perfect.
hopon

Mar 10 @ 7:31PM
I agree with the hypocrite part, and YES that is wrong! I strongly agree with this statement.

But what if I being a teacher preached to the children to stay in school, but then signed for my own child to quit? Would that be hypocritical?

What about all the people in law enforcement who write tickets to speeders etc, and then speed themselves......

it is all on such a fine line...

ahh fuck it! I am just going to change my fucking career!!!
Move over peaches and momma..... make room on the streets of High Point for hopon!!!!! lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, first of all, we're not talking about anything wrong with having sex...sexual desire is perfectly normal.

you seem to have conveniently brushed over the part about his being married and having a family.

I guess the opposition to it speaks to his moral character...most people don't want elected officials in office would would break the law.

But that's a laugh, huh? Because many of them do.

I don't necessarily think he should be ousted from office because of it...I mean, if you oust him for that, then you should oust the rest of the crooks for (fill in the blank) crimes they've committed too.

The one who's really being unfairly punished, though, and suffering pain and humiliation at his expense because he couldn't keep his weiner in his pants, are his poor wife and kids.

To hell with what effect it might have on him personally...he knew the risks associated with being involved in such an activity...he rolled the dice, took his chances, and that's one bet he lost.

Oh well. Poor baby. Maybe he'll think next time he decides to cheat.
lolthisistoofunny

Mar 10 @ 8:01PM
oh shoot...forgot to add... a "mistake" is "coloring outside the lines." When you go and hire a prostitute (much less be involved in a prostitution ring) that is not a "mistake," that is a deliberate and willful act.

Mar 10 @ 8:09PM
But what if I being a teacher preached to the children to stay in school, but then signed for my own child to quit? Would that be hypocritical?

No, of course not... not if it was the right thing for your child. Just because staying in school would seem to be the best avenue if possible, that doesn't fit every person's unique circumstances. I'm sure you would do whatever was best for your child - that never makes you a hypocrit IMO.

I have to strongly agree with the whole "it pisses me off that I can't do what I want because of my career" thing. I give my clients exceptional service and genuine care... what I do in my private life should NOT matter. I don't care what they do in THEIRS. But no, as an insurance and financial advisor , it's just not appropriate for someone in my position to have fun like everyone else. What bullshit. I can't even date in my own town, which is just SO inconvenient for a single mom with a busy career. I feel it very unfair indeed.

*deep breath*

Well... that's how I feel about that
hopon

Mar 10 @ 8:23PM
what if his wife knew about it??? would it still be looked at as "dirty"? maybe that is the kind of life they lead outside of the office....
hopon

Mar 10 @ 8:27PM
lolthisistoofunny........... I don't feel as though I conveniently brushed over the fact that he was married.... I def. mentioned that..... whether he was married or not, I would still feel the same way about it.

being married doesn't prone us to making anymore or any less mistakes than someone who is not.....

Mar 10 @ 8:34PM
okay your right He is human, no one is perfect, he did speak out against prostition then got busted. have his job taken away??? no! Hey his wife may not want sex anymore whats the guy to do?? get on a sex site Then he'd be called worse So damn if he does and damn if he don't I mean hell look at Clinton I mean we know they "all" do it! Its just that when they get caught they want to make the poor guy look stupid.

Mar 10 @ 8:35PM
Right now the law says you can't pay for sex. His job is a job of trust we give him. If he breaks this law what other laws is he breaking? Other than that I say you don't pay for the sex you pay for her to leave when your done. LOL Do you think the police or judge will buy it?

Mar 10 @ 8:36PM
I think I said about the same thing a while back.. people in the public eye all the time need more opportunity to wind down than some of us who live joe schmoe's life.. yeah.. seriously.

Ahh well.. Clinton got a blowjob ... lets impeach that dirty bastard...

This blog reminds me of a preacher I knew a long time ago...

He gave sermons every Sunday telling his congregation how to live righteously and lead by example, but after "work" he would come down to the farm and get so drunk he could barely walk...using more profanity than I knew existed and laughing about the fools in his church that actually took him seriously. He would go on to say how it was just a "job" and after work he had to cut loose just like anyone else. It was not what a 15 year old kid needed to hear.

This guy was one of the most rude crude despicable people I have ever met...I would have loved to have filmed him during these drunken rants and played the video for the congregation of his church.

But what if I being a teacher preached to the children to stay in school, but then signed for my own child to quit? Would that be hypocritical?

Yes...I do think it's hypocritical and reprehensible too.

People that choose to be in public eye deserve whatever they get when they screw up. For some it seems to be a power trip and they have to be in the limelight. Those who are true to their beliefs and don't just do it for the money, attention or to feed their narcissistic vanity have nothing to fear.

Joe Fucking Schmoe as you so eloquently put it has to pay the piper too, but because they are just a cog in the wheel they get no special treatment, they are not looked up to or pampered, they only have to go to work and pay the bills. Their punishment gets as much recognition as anything else they do, none!

That Governor in NY sitting on his high horse living on taxpayer money decides to engage in the very activity he has been ostracizing for years. Being a public servant holding the highest office in the state is quite a bit different than the guy that cuts your grass. Of course his political career is in the toilet as it should be. I hope they prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law.

You can point the finger at anyone doing something wrong and if it's Joe Fucking Schmoe no one will think twice about it. If it's a government employee that has any status in the community of course they will get more attention! They draw attention to themselves everyday and you expect people to look the other way when they screw up?

It comes with the territory.

You said, "Yeah, yeah, I get the part about him being married..." which sure sounds like a brush off to me...I mean, make mention of it in passing but it is a HUGELY related issue.

Again, what he did was no MISTAKE; it was a willful and deliberate act. A "mistake" is an accidental occurrence.

And unless I'm "mistaken" about the meaning of the word, what'd he do, walk down the street, bump into a hooker and fall into a *HOLE??*

(Oh, lord, I kill me sometimes..I just kill me! Snorrrkk!!)

I haven't read the story on what happen? But if all Elliot Spitzer did was hire a hooker. Who cares? His private sex life is his own business. Well if he's a hypocrite, hopefully he'll see the light and realize prostitution should be legalized. But yeah, if he's a hypocrite, I think he should be punished ( Just because he sent innocent people to jail, not because he hired a prostitute) and all those people he convicted, as long as they don't have a warrant for something else, charges should be dropped, and if they are still in jail or prison, they should be released. But that's not going to happen...

Oh but this country just loves a good sex scandal. We latch on to it like rats to cheese.

Not to mention it takes our mind off of the economy, global warming and starving children.

When you enter the public eye, you come into scrutiny, these people know this. If I get a DWI big deal, Mel Gibson, look out. If I rendezvous with ahooker, who gives a shit? Sptizer, headline news nationally. If I try to locate a rump ranger in the men's room at an airport, I am sleazy. Craig is dead meat. I use a racial slur, who cares. Imus makes one, Cya, career.

Yes, famous people are held to a higher standard. But they know this in advance and make a hell of a lot more money than we do. No sympathy here; their bad, their stupidity.

Im in NY and im a democrat. Im embarrassed of his behavior. I could let him pass if he was in a long term affair. This was a thought out thing he did... he made the plans and consummated the deal. He will be gone. Im tired of people in govt telling us how we should run our lives....prosecute us is we dont. He will be gone...and soon. He made too many enemies, and frankly, I dont think he was a very good governor. Remember he ordered the dept of motor vehicles to grant licenses to illegal immigrant. After the uproar he finally gave in. He was a law and order attorney general here... he should be held to a higher standard!!! Good riddance

***THIS IS HOPON'S HUBBY*** I WANTED TO GET MY DISCLAIMER IN FIRST...

I love my wife... but, here is one of the major areas she and I differ. While she feels as though it is an acceptable thing for this to happen... I DON'T!!!

The man is the highest elected PUBLIC official in the state of New York... Elected being the critical word in that statement. So, what then makes it acceptable or right for the man to hire a prostitute? The position is in fact "By the people and for the people..." not the prostitutes. If you want to be a public official then be aware you will be in the PUBLIC eye. And, p.s. try not using the phones at the Governor's Mansion to call from... lol... dumb ass...

If he needed to cum that badly I'm sure he could have met Rosy palm and her four sisters... While I do agree with my bride...Hopon... that we all make mistakes put a damn padlock on it in the public eye... Enough of my ramblings... Hopon's Hubby

IF he cheated, don't you think that is between him and his spouse? Geez, pisses me off that people feel they have the right to make others live by their values.

The question of whether he should have, or shouldn't have has been pretty well covered so will pass.

Did he spend his OWN money........ or did he find some way to charge it to his office...... and thus the tax payers? I'd be pissed if MY governor was spending tax money on hookers.

What do you mean IF he cheated? He's MARRIED...he screwed a whore..he CHEATED.

...the outcome of which and the consequences of which are between him and his wife. But that doesn't mean I can't voice my opinion about it. How the hell is my offering up and opinion suggesting I'm trying to "MAKE" anyone live by my values???

Gezus you guys will grasp at any little thing you can find just to find some reason to bitch at someone who's not part of your mindset, won't you?

OH MY FUCKING GAWD!!!

Now if that isn't ... The pot calling the kettle black ... Then I don't know what is!!!

OK, now that I got that out of the way...on to the topic of the blog...

When you enter the public eye, you come into scrutiny, these people know this. If I get a DWI big deal, Mel Gibson, look out. If I rendezvous with ahooker, who gives a shit? Sptizer, headline news nationally. If I try to locate a rump ranger in the men's room at an airport, I am sleazy. Craig is dead meat. I use a racial slur, who cares. Imus makes one, Cya, career.

Are you two fucking kidding me?! Let's face it...there are two kinds of law. Those for us Average Joe's, and for those who aren't...such as sports stars, movie stars, music stars, and so on.

I'll only use one example...

If I get a DWI, big deal my ass! I've had two, I'm ashamed to say... But I sure as hell paid for it a hell of a lot more than Mel Gibson, or any other famous person ever has or will!

And it wasn't the DWI that got Mel Gibson into the headlines...true, being who he is had a big part in it. But an even bigger part of it is what he had to say...

Personally I could give a rat's less about the scandal, I could also give a rat's ass less about Spitzer and what he did...but it pisses me off when there are two seperate laws...one for us Average Joe's, and one for those who are famous.

Furthermore, if I were to say the things Imus had said where I work, damn straight I'd lose my job! Why shouldn't Imus lose his?! What makes him so fuckin' special?!

Last but not least...many years ago in the late 80's, I was busted with 14.5 pounds of marijuana in my trunk...18 months prison...10 years parole/probation!

Steve Howe, a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball, played for the Dodgers, Twins, Rangers, and Yankees. Busted 7 times, yes...SEVEN TIMES...for cocaine abuse...and still this guy was signing contracts for millions to play baseball!!

Fuck that! What made him so fucking special?!

Michael Irvin, a WR for the Dallas Cowboys, who was also busted numerous times on drug charges...usually for cocaine as well. And yet he continued to play, and continued making millions of dollars doing so...what made him so fucking special?!

So if Sptizer is thrown out of office for breaking the law...GOOD! He should be! Because...what makes him so fucking special?!

Thanks for all the comments..... I guess that I need to travel around to all the education institutions to people training to be teachers, and let them know that they will permanently be in the eyes of scrutiny.... I figured that someone should do it for them, because no one ever did it for me!

p.s.... I love you hubby.... even when we do debate!!!
