Here is another of my published ones... ENJOY!!
An original poem by J.K. - inspired by nature again. Whale Migration Perching high on a cliff overhanging the sea Far out on the point is where you'll find me Waves crash below me upon the shore I lean back to look up and see eagles soar Winds blow the tall grasses to and fro Brushing against me, they tickle my nose and toes All about me dragonflies buzz in the warm summer sun Hovering, zipping on gossamer wings, just having fun My gaze turns to the sea, unfurled before me with its shimmering sheen Waves kissed by the sky overhead, like multi-faceted jewels in shades of blue, silver and green Out in the distance I see whalespouts blow Where are they headed? I don't really know The whales are passing on their migratory way How long can I watch them? I couldn't say What kind they are, Humpback, Fin or Grey Maybe my books will tell me later today They are now too distant for me to tell The first time you see them, you'll be under their spell The magic will captivate you and have you returning for more To watch the whales pass from the Kodiak shores For a glimpse is fleeting with no guarantee But the chance has been given, given to me So here I come to this place on a fine summer's day And perhaps I'll see whales migrating out in Marmot Bay
